Heard nothing from first direct, for x customer, closed loan, though they told me "by the end of 2015" so may be in for a long wait

Has anyone heard any more about this? HSBC don't seem very forthcoming with any definitive information. I am a current customer with a closed loan.

Unfortunately not Lurke. I understand it could be a long wait for us HSBC customers with closed loans that qualify, and would expect this later this year. Anything sooner will be a bonus....

I was just wondering if anyone has had any refunds in recent months?
seems to have gone very very quiet.
I was told months ago refunds would be sorted within a few months. Wondering if there is a way to push this forward...

I have had a few HSBC loans over the last 8 -10 years, how do I go about finding out when they were opened and closed? All I can see in my internet banking is my current loan which was consolidated from a previous HSBC loan and was opened in Sep 2013

I took out a loan in July 2010 and have found out that First Direct allowed overpayments on any loan taken out from 11/06/10, even though this date was prior to them becoming fully compliant with the new regulations.

As this was taken out prior, does this mean that they do not have to inform me on the annual statement that overpayments are allowed even though they are?

So I sent a message via internet banking if I had an affected loan, and if so can I have my refund.

Customer service write back today with a Final response letter, telling me one of my loans is affected, they cant say when it will be looked at, but we have closed your complaint and you have 6 months to go to the FOS.

What poor service, If they take longer than 6 months to pay out my FOS rights expire and I can't do anything.

Any Ideas what you would do?

I've sent a second secure message to HSBC today as I never heard back from my original message.

I've been reading through the last few pages and there does seem to be a lot of dates floating around regarding loans that are and aren't applicable.

My loan was taken out in April 2011 which I believe is in the window of affected loans; could anyone tell me if I'm correct in that assumption; as I don't want to take it further if I've gotten the wrong end of the stick.

  • I also say that in cases the bank will normally contact customers. Give them a few months at least and then look here to see if people have started to say that they have been contacted. Get in touch with them.

I received a reply today from my secure message saying that my loan did indeed qualify for the redress payment.

It also went on to say that HSBC are still processing customers with open loans and it may be a few months before I hear about my refund.

At least now I know I do qualify; so I'm happy about that, I just wish they were quicker at going through them all but never mind.
