Good morning everyone, lovely day again and nice temperature this morning with a nice light breeze. Just off to walk the Lurcha as He Who Knows is en route to the airport to pick up DD1 after her expedition to Zambia. As is always the way of things, the plane came in early and all the children's parents were there early so she's sitting in an aiport cafe on her own drinking coffee and reading a newspaper until her Pa turns up. They sound to have had a wonderful time and I can't wait to see the photos when I go to her on Friday.
DUMPLING I do feel for you love, my dear SIL was diagnosed with diabetes this time last year and spent a month in absolute numb shock before she and my brother could begin to deal with the situation. She too found it difficult to get any meaningful information from the medical faction and had a really long chat with my GP daughter before she could understand what she had to do. At the beginning she was certain that normality had gone forever from her life and that she would never be able to eat normally again or have a glass of wine or a chocolate. 1 year on she's balanced, has medication that with her lifestyle changes means she feels well and is completely in charge of it all. Her bloods are constant and she's learned how to manage the diabetes and still is allowed a small glass of wine once in a while, and when we do the pub quiz she has a coffee and a biscuit because that's OK too!!! It will take you a while to work out your own individual path through this problem but rest assured that you WILL and this time next year, you'll be posting that all is well. In the meantime lovey, we're here to support and listen so say it to us because there will be vexations and dissapointments on your journey but at the end of it you'll be well and thriving, Hugs and Love Lyn xxx.0 -
Hi everyone,
Dumpling, it's a blooming cheek of people to say that. Almost all of us do something that could affect our health, it's just unfortunate if it does.
I am trying to change my diet at the moment because I have an auto-immune disease (for 30 years) and the last couple of years I seem to be developing more and more symptoms. The only thing I have control over is my diet. I need to do it gradually though, otherwise I'll fail.
I'm pretty sure I've got a chest infection at the moment but am trying to resist going to get antibiotics so I shall have a fairly quiet day.
I've got a meeting tonight that I'm dreading, I really regret getting involved with this group but I feel guilty at the thought of resigning, I think I will though.0 -
Morning All
Well said everyone, especially Mrs LW, Dumpling the hardest part is getting your head round things.
Washing up to date, DW can go on when DD has had her evening meal. Hoovered round so it's all good to leave till Friday. I think DD is used to sorting herself now as I never seem to be here!
Sad to see the Commonwealth Games come to an end but well done Glasgow, it was great.
Hugs to all not feeling too good. See you Friday. Take care. XX0 -

Dumpling- you allow yourself a bit of grieving, it's natural and down to the shock. Health scares are horrible but in time you will be ready to face the issue and give that diabetes a good fight x
1st load of washing done, need to have a bath and clean house. Also do a bit more gardening. Yesterday I put the strawberry runners in pots and repotted my lovely rosemary that is a cutting from the huge one in my garden. If we find the right house and move, I want to be able to take a descendent of it with me!
I purposely stayed off the computer much of yesterday and got much more knitting doneI do spend so much time on it hopping from subject to subject. How much more productive would I be without the internet........
Have a good day all, hugs to those in need x0 -
Judi, thank you for the link, I just donated to the baby house. It must make you sad that your husband doesn't feel the same way as you about it. However, I'm sure lots of your mse friend will share the pride you feel in your daughter.0

Morning all,
thanks all for your comments about my daughter and her partners work. Of course I'm gushing with pride but I don't want to be a bore so I will try and keep a lid on it.
Anyway, moving swiftly on..... hubby is back at work today. He wanted to stay off longer but finances wouldn't allow. He's working away which hasn't pleased him.
Ive had to resort to nagging him to get the rest of the bits done in the house that I cant physically do. When he's working he comes home and he either doesn't have time or is too tired to do anything in the house so ive made use of his time whilst he has been off. I'm like a dog with a bone when things need doing unfortunately.
Dumpling, its understandable your upset about your diagnosis.... but take it from me, my school friend Kevin is a new man since he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He's lost 2 stone in weight and is better looking and fitter than he has ever been. I know its ok for me to say as I'm not in your position but I am looking at your position through the eyes of someone who can see the positives through someone who has gone through it.
Lots to do today, ive got a few hanging gardens to dispose of in several of the rooms and the laundry wont do by itself.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Good gosh Dumpling, how rude people are. No one deserves any kind of illness. No one would say you deserve "cancer" or something so why say that his awful. I'm quite cross on your behalf.
Sounds like a lovely day out yesterday Jackie x
Today im taking the kids to Lakeside. They need clothes/shoes etc. it won't be cheap at all. I've already ordered lots of clothes as well. I tend to buy them clothes a few times a year rather than in bits and bobs. So it gets expensive with 3 of them. (Got interrupted by Next order arriving)
My bedding is in the WM and the dishwasher has been emptied and I've put it on a cleaning cycle.
Dinner tonight will be corned beef hash and cauliflower cheese for me and husband. The kids will have some pizza.
I won't get much housework done today as am going out. But I did clean the bathrooms, do the ironing and Hoover yesterday.
Love hugs and spoons xxx0 -
Oh you lovely people, you've made me cry again but in a good way. Thank you for your words of wisdom and encouragement.:A0

Hi all,
Forgive me Martin, for I have spent......
Went into L!dl this morning and bought a sewing machine, it was a singer for less than £80 - can,t really afford it, but seemed like too good a deal to miss - hoping to 'earn' the money back by making some lovely Xmas prezzies..... Just gotta learn how to use it
judi -just wanted to add how much I enjoy tales from the babyhouse too - those babies are just beautiful - I have so much admiration for your DD and her partner x
Dumpling - thinking of you, be gentle with youself and 2 fingers to anyone that doesn,t understand - if they can,t say anything constructive they should say nought.......
No news here really - done some washing, prepping dinner, meatballs and pasta, made from L!dl HP burgers and a shed load of veg bits from fridge.
Time to do something, take care all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300
