I'd be very interested to find out what your IQ score is. This is clearly not 'everyday noise'. It is a constant noise day in day out for the past 8 months. Having a cold is very different as it is fleeting. Wish people would read before posting their ill-informed opinions.
Last time I took a test I was eligible to join MENSA.

The point I was making is that maybe he can't help clearing his throat any more than I can help blowing my nose.

Today I have a cold, but I also suffer from hayfever and allergic rhinitits. One makes me sneeze (and if it is really bad, clear my throat) and the other makes my nose run so I have to keep blowing my nose (one of the teachers at school called me 'the eternal handkerchief').

I think clearing your throat is a natural thing to do. If he does it all the time, well maybe he has allergy problems the same as I do.

It does make me wonder if you are listening for him to clear his throat. I live in a mid-terrace house and very rarely hear noise from my neighbours, so either your walls are made of paper or you are extra-sensitive and/or listening for it.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

If you speak to your neighbours as you speak to long standing posters then it is inevitable that you would encounter problems. No need to be rude.

You have previously posted that you have Asperger's syndrome. It is well documentated that a very common co morbid condition that is found with aspires is sensory processing disorder. Sight, sound, smells and touch can be experienced as painful stimuli. I would hazard a guess that that is what is going on here.

Maybe listen to SDW as her son has this diagnosis too. And brush up on your social skills too. ASD is no excuse for rudeness and prejudice.

I don't. When I bought my house the neighbouring houses on both sides were both owner occupied. They are now owned by private landlords. Over the last few years there have been numerous tenants and without a shadow of a doubt the better neighbours have been those in full time employment. The reasons for this are obvious.

In what way though, to me its about logic in that working tenants have to go to bed early whilst unemployed dont but thats purely for noise.

Better neighbours are more down to personality, much of the real scum is on benefits as its easy money for them as they play the system so it makes it seem people on benefits are worst tenants when its more a certain type of people on benefits rather than people on benefits, also I have lived with people who work full time but at the weekends have parties or drink till as late as 6am and have friends staying over, the neighbours maybe dont hear too much due to thicker walls but that does not mean as they are unheard they are bad tenants, just like I have lived with working people who pile up plates and pans on the side unwashed as they are too tired(fair enough) to clean and also use communal areas but do not tidy up and as they are tired they slam doors etc, compare that to unemployed people I have stayed with who mostly have been polite and quiet and at most may stay up late and so go to bathroom during night, or get a knock on door from friends.

Please refer to the MSE code of conduct in this matter.

1. Post thread complaining about something.
2. People read thread and believe that OP is the one with/causing the problem.
3. OP makes excuses about people not knowing the full story.
4. People point out that the OP is the one posting half stories with selective recall.
5. OP resorts to slagging off anyone who disagrees with them. Thereby proving point 2.
• Please refer to the MSE code of conduct in this matter.

1. Post thread complaining about something
2. Know-it-alls read thread and chastise the OP ... because they can
3. OP, having asked for advice, thanks some but defends post
4. More 'thanked' MSE trolls arise and take the bait

Jeez this site is more of a 'club' than an advice site. He has neighbours from hell, what's wrong with looking for advice without sarcasm.

But then again, many on here are DM readers with pretentious Rioja swilling nimbies for neighbours with detached houses and without any concern for such substandard behaviour.

Daily mail readers aren't usually too hot on sarcasm.
• Because I am scared they will kill my cat or something. By the way they have already stolen my bike. Think I should start this post again lol.

You should tell them all that, including that you are scared of reprisal (although I don't know how they would know it was you who called the police).
