Rubbish neighbours on both sides

On this forum you will get 10% good advice and 90% bad. The bad will come from the ones who think they have a smart answer and think themselves the life and soul of the party but in reality are bigoted fools with little to offer anywhere.
OP, perhaps another quiet word with the cougher with a friendly concerned approach may persuade him to go to the quacks. Plus a look at better insulation for your own home. The druggies you won't be able to do much about, they're already a lost cause so, an inconvenience, but windows closed on that side seems to be the only alternative. :cool:0 -

....and you, as supreme arbiter, know which is which?
This forum provides a range of opinions and the first post usually sets the tone. If it's full of loaded language, or the information's incomplete, less helpful comments may well follow.
Rubbish in - rubbish out, to echo the thread title here.
I had something to add, but when I considered the tone of the first post, I decided not to. Some of this was a bit too close to home and I realised it had made me quite angry.0 -
I wrote, and posted, first post quickly. It wasn't inappropriate to ask throaty to calm it down (wonder how much s**t I will get for that ??!!) - I asked absolutely adorably and his reply was sweet - and actually thanked me for coming to him (5 months after he had moved in so I was at end of my tether)DELETED USER wrote:Well, the way you wrote about your neighbours that you suspect are on benefits and out of work does rather scream bigotry, but anyway... Here's some advice:
Call the police. Get them to come round and smell it. Problem solved. Why have you not done this already?
Because I am scared they will kill my cat or something. By the way they have already stolen my bike. Think I should start this post again lol.0 -
I sympathise completely with the smoking thing. Having moved from a flat I have huge experience in this department. There was a guy who moved in a few years after us, he smoked weed almost constantly and had a stream of comings and goings. The hallways reeked of weed, it is utterly disgusting, especially when you have to walk your 1 year old child through the smell. I can't imagine what it was like for the people he shared a landing with.
Little did he know, his upstairs neighbour was a newly recruited Police Officer. They eventually raided him, and kept doing so every month for months. It stopped the comings and goings, but didn't stop him smoking weed.
Then the music at 2am started.
Needless to say we couldn't move out quick enough.
My tip, if you don't like any sort of noise or disturbance whether it be intentional or not, don't live in a flat. ever.0 -
I just feel sorry for the poor man clearing his throat. if you can't feel free with your private bodily functions in your own home, where else is there? I have got a cold coming on today and am constantly sneezing and blowing my nose, it would be horrific if I had to worry about what the neighbours thought and called me 'rubbish' for doing it.
Honestly, and without malice, I think if someone can't cope with ordinary everyday noise (the pot-smoking is different), then they need to live in a detached house. (Although I am staying in my friend's detached house at the moment and can hear their neighbour hoovering).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

P.s. grew up in council house, have done many things a stuck up person would never do. Gosh we do have some sensitive & delicate, yet judgmental, folk here. Easy behind a screen though hey! :rotfl:
Banter? you said it turned nasty not me. The fact is, it's too much noise for your precious ears to take isn't it? get over yourself.0 -

I'd be very interested to find out what your IQ score is. This is clearly not 'everyday noise'. It is a constant noise day in day out for the past 8 months. Having a cold is very different as it is fleeting. Wish people would read before posting their ill-informed opinions.0 -
In a previous post you describe yourself as an Aspie, is that not what the issue is here? I have the same problem, I pick up on a noise and once it is in my head I can't let it go, to the extent I imagine it when it isn't even there. It is annoying, but the problem is with you not the neighbour - he is doing nothing out of the ordinary. You need to find a coping mechanism, be that white noise or CBT, but don't mention it to your neighbour again, unless you want to really annoy them!
And Aspie or not, there is no excuse for being rude to people. seven-day-weekend is a respected member of the forum, questioning their IQ only makes you look stupid.0
