Regarding paying off the mortgage early......
I worked for the Halifax up until 2009, and people who make part repayments and other overpayments to their mortgage are, in the great scheme of things, quite rare.
From spending time on this board, it seems as if everybody is paying as much to their mortgage as possible, but it's really only a tiny amount of mortgage holders that do this, so it's not surprising that nobody knows other people in real life who are MFW'sEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
I know quite a few friends in RL oping, but more subconsciously, as in rates decreased kept payment same, or low rates lets make the most of it. Two are accountants so that might explain it.
I'm with Hally and when I phone up to op they always seem shocked, its even worse in branch, no one seems to know how to process it.
Well done on 10,000 that's a huge amount. :beer:HOME

I guess some people don't see why they would pay more money to something they don't have to - without realising the huge impact those payments have in the long term.
It is good to be with like-minded people on here though!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
sneaks in looking a bit sheepish.... can't believe it's been more than a week since I was last here....
I've been a busy bee with work, work travelling and a bit of fun in between seeing family and friends. I think I may have been burning the candle at both ends somewhat though as have also been very tired this week. A good nights sleep and a lie in today seems to have sorted me though
Despite the busy life, it's not been a particularly spendy time and I'm still within the monthly budget. Only 4 more days til payday and I should be ok til then (barring any unexpected traumas anyway! )
I've not really been doing many surveys either as time is so limited. However, I one today on YG which meant I reached the £50 payout level :j so looking forward to that money arriving.
The only OP I have to report was a £5.90 lottery win last weekend. Small but it definitely all helps :T
Goldiegirl, sarahevie1, mortgage_girl and CathT - thanks so much for stopping by
Off to have a catch up on some diaries

Well done on your lottery win! :T Hope you're feeling a bit less tired now, mind you, I've felt exhausted for about a week and I'm on my holidays! Not sure what's going on there.
Two days til payday - hooray! Have you signed up to Prolific Academic for surveys? It's one of the best survey sites I've come across -they pay well and you only get given surveys that your eligible for. You do have to log on to check for them though, they don't email you to tell you about them. If you fancy signing up (if you haven't already...and if you want to), the link for the referral board is here:

Happy 1st September
Can't believe how fast the year is going
I decided to get away the long weekend and have had a lovely few days seeing family and catching up with an old school friend.
The weather hasn't been brilliant though (who would have though on bank holiday?!) so I have also been enjoying several hours of blissfully uninterrupted reading time. It's such a simple pleasure but really does feel like such a luxury in today's busy world.
I couldn't face work yet so have taken a couple of extra days off too
Sadly I can't update my monthly figures yet as don't have them with me..so that will have to wait for another day. I can say that I have made an OP of £13.30 which is a survey payment and a small lotttery win...(figured if I post them here it will act as a reminder too).
