If your contract is with EE, that's whom you should be dealing with, not P4U.
Not so sure, P4U said it would work in the OP's home location so they should be the ones responsible.

Not always.
I'd say it's often cheaper not to have a contract but does not always work out, it depends entirely in your use, if you are a heavy phone user contracts almost always work out better overall, depending on the deal it can be cheaper to get the phone on a contract, that buying a phone and using PAYG.0
