I am really interested in your comments!
My onlu concern is that this TV does not have fastext and according to the spec, it does not have a flat screen? Does this not cause you any problems?
Of course it has a flat screen its a plasma, i would have thought it would have fastext, but many people dont use it anyway its all digital text nowadays isnt it.0 -
All, im sorry to bump this to the top.
However, I just wanted to say a big thanks to the team that helped me pick my new samsung PS42Q96HD which is currys equivalent of the PS42Q97HDX apart from a small cosmetic silver strip at the bottom.
I ordered mine (finally ) this mornign from currys, it was £724 but after a discount code of AW60AUG = minus £60 it took it down to £660 delivered.
I think this is a an absolute bargain, thanks again guys
Cheeers

Destiny, I was in the same boat as you. It was on advice from this thread, and AV forums that I settled on this plasma.
Its not the cheapest one that I could find, I stretched my budget to buy this one.
You should go into your local currys and see how good it looks before deciding to buy a cheaper one. There is several LG that are the same size for cheaper
Currys now have their online price set at something silly like 850, they have switched the deal to pc world or dixons.
Lots of other price runner comparisons, come out at about 689 delivered.
Remember to search for both part numbers when searching for your telly.
AV forums are where all the really technical people hide, but I am over the moon with mine.
Cheers

Thanks again

Hi I have just put in a search on here for a 42" Plasma. My mum and dad want one and they are both in their 70's so want a hassle free guarantee. Has there been any updates since this thread was going? They were looking for a cheap deal and have been looking at the LG's0

Found this site for advice on Plasma Vs LCD.
http://www.plasma-lcd-facts.co.uk/myths/response/
Basically they say 37" and above then Plasma is better. See site for reasons why.
Looks a genuine site with nothing to sell so no reason not to believe them.
Hope this helps someone.Noli nothis permittere te terere.0 -
Hi, anyone thinking of getting the PS42Q96HD ( or PS42Q97HDX) which apparently are the same thing apart from a small detail on the fascia. I have spent the last 2 days doing price comparrisons & the 97HDX comes out at £588 inc free delivery & free subscription to Setanta Sports. from Beyond Television.co.uk0

personally never had a problem with pixmania - they are based in France and you get an adapter screw on thinging for the pouwer supply, but manuals ..etc are English (well most come in multple languages anyway) - haven;t had to send anything back so can't comment on that I'm afraid.0

that would be the site setup and run by panasonic and pioneer both big plasma backers....? I also think the 37 figure is choses as they dont do 32" plasmas
I dont think you can trust them implicitly, there are lots of truths and myths regarding both out there on the internet. But the most import one to remember is unlike a regular tv it is not common to turn it on and have the best picture out of it, alot of the settings seem desinged to be ultra vivid to stand out in a shop not produce an accurate picture.
also stats dont make a good picture, only your own eye can tell you that.0 -
aldi are now doing 42" with freeview thingy for £569. just walk in and pick one up0
