Small unsafe flights

Anyone ever been on the smaller flights that you think just arent safe?
Recently i flew from the Serengeti to Arusha in Tanzania in a 16 seater. Turned up at the airport and was told to go straight to the plane. There the captain checked i was on the passenger list and then i threw my own luggage into the hold before boarding the plane. No security, no ID checks and no weighing of my luggage
While on the runway there were passengers of others planes ducking under the rotating propellers to leave the runway and then the flight was overbooked so 1 passenger sat in the cockpit
Makes you wonder why terrorists dont hijack a small plane and fly it into a large building. Certainly easier than hijacking a 787

Might make the windows dirty though.
I used to fly (SLF) in a twin otter with Air Ecosse, (so called because they were the size of two otters taped together) and the 'flight attendant' would turn around with two flasks and offer tea or coffee - I never found out where she produced the Mars bars from!Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0 -
I am bad enough on a Flybe Dash 8 to the Isle of Man.
I went over there on business a couple of years ago, with one of the Managers of a fire co, I deal with. Went from Liverpool.
Got onboard, no issue. Took off, was very bumpy and slippy on runway. It is only a 20 minute flight. Just as we were coming into land at IOM, a gust of wind caught us and pushed us down, below the cliff edge. The pilot veered up fast and then slammed on the runway ! We both screamed '' OH F***'' and grabbed each others hands !:rotfl:Everyone else was just reading their papers.
It is the only time, I have gone to collect my case and straight up to the bar for a double Brandy, before going anywhere. lol
That is the smallest plane you will ever get me on !0 -
Did the manager slap you on the face or was she OK about it?Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0

Smaller aircraft are more fun.0

I did a short flight in a Turboprop in southern India. I couldn't help thinking, while flying over the jungle and mountains of Kerela, that if the plane went down then we'd never be found.0

When I lived in the Seychelles I would often sit in the cockpit next to the pilot on inter-island flights. Just life in the tropics...0

They don't because most terrorism is largely symbolic.
Hijacking a small plane in Tanzania isn't nearly as symbolic as hijacking four US-built planes, flown by two of America's flag carriers, and slamming them into world-recognised symbols of western power and capitalism.
The whole point of 9/11 wasn't to kill 3,000 people (those people were just 'collateral damage'). The idea was to make a statement.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
