I would just email the second version to enforcement@parkingeye.co.uk and save yourself the stamp. PE do reply on that email addy.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks, Coupon-mad. I've just done as you suggested with an attachment of a copy of the receipt. Let's see how it goes.

Just to let everyone know that I've received a confirmation of cancellation today (11th Aug). The letter was dated on 1st August - the day when Rachel called me.

Thanks to everyone for all the help I've received in this forum.

Nice one. Make sure you don't shop at Aldi again, and brief against them at every opportunity. I know that store - there's no need whatsoever for those parking restrictions.

Indeed a lesson should be learnt from this.

Personally I've never ever gone shopping at that store and I hope the wife will not go there in the future. On a separate note, after I talked to the store staff (I insisted that they should take some action despite that they said they couldn't do anything and tried to 'dismiss' me twice), I received a call from their area manager (on 3rd August) mentioning that he will get the PCN cancelled.
