Petrol Station Super Unleaded Con?

So are you going to tell us what country he comes from or just leave us guessing?
Its already been said and the link posted to world petrol prices only gives 1 country that is close to $0.01 a L
Due to the closed & pegged currency if you actually paid in USD it would be more like $0.001 because of the blackmarket exchange rate is now almost 10:1 what the official exchange rate is.0 -
Not sure how this is a con. The price is displayed and the fuel type is displayed. The prices are displayed as you drive in, on the pump prior, during and after the fuel is delivered to your vehicle. Maybe more of an anecdote about how you nearly made a mistake but didnt.
would be surprised if the price is displayed before you drive in.
I doubt they are going to display £1.59 on the main display0 -

Thats what I thought.
I think all prices should be displayed on the main sign at all fuel stations
I bet hundreds get caught out every day0 -

Having the price for every fuel on the main roadside sign won't help one bit, when the issue is picking the wrong handle up.
I don't see the relevance of colour-blindness, either, when the choice under discussion is between two green handles.0 -
I agree that all prices should be displayed.
Some older stations only have tanks for 3 possibilities and their pumps have only 3 nozzles.
So you can usually expect then to have regular and premium petrol, but only regular diesel.
I only use premium diesel and when out of my local area I often drive into filling stations - look at their pumps - and then leave as they don't sell what I want.
Not easy sometimes if there is a queue.
But the onus is on the purchaser to check what they are buying.
I'm not suggesting that the OP is in any way a pratt, but you have to read what is displayed on the pump as for whatever reason the large signage often doesn't give enough info.
It's just like buying any other product - I go into a shop - look on the shelves for the product I want - check the price before I take it - and if the shop doesn't stock it, I leave and go elsewhere.
However when folks are in a hurry ........0 -

Not sure the wife would be happy with an extra one of the former and the airline probably not to happy with the latter.
Have to settle for some rather fine rum instead and window shopping when visiting the relatives over there.0 -
The assumption that the OP is a pratt is somewhat unfair.I used to fill up there on a monthly basis and got caught out twice (managed to move the car each time). Don't go there now.Its somewhat of an ambush if you get boxed in and the operators know it.
take responsibility folks.0 -
I think clearer labelling practices would be a good thing. Also it's counter productive for the business to sell something the customer doesn't want.0
