Taking tin of paint back as it's poor quality?

    Hi all

Can I have thoughts on this one please? I paid 39.99 for a tin of Dulux Endurance Matt emulsion and paid a professional decorator to emulsion a bedroom. After 2 coats it was still streaky (the decorator said that DIY Dulux is poor quality) and so off he went to get the trade version of my paint. It covered that room well and then my hallway with just one coat.

I can't afford to throw away nearly £40 and so I intend taking it back to Homebase. Are they likely to quibble?

First of all take the tin and receipt back to Homebase , State that you are unhappy with the finish and have purchased paint elsewhere to finish the job , Be polite Don't raise your voice and I wouldn't mention that a decorater has put it on and you won't have a problem getting a refund.
Homebase own label paint has a no quibble money back if you are not happy Not sure with Dulux but I don't think you will have a problem as long as you are firm but polite .

how much of the tin of paint have you got left?

if it is a near empty tin I am not sure what response you will get as it would be all to easy to buy a tin of buy paint use it to paint your house and then take the empty tin back saying the paint was not fit for purpose

You mean as in post# 5?
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I had a bit of an issue with B and Q getting a refund for their rubbish own brand colours paint. When I used it, it was like painting with treacle and was leaving an awful finish so I took it back on this basis. The customer services lady said with some glee that she would not be giving me a refund as it is their policy not to accept returns, just because I didn't like the finish. However I kept whinging, and then happened to mention that coverage was so much less than advertised because the paint was so thick. It was almost like I'd said the magic word and as soon as I said that, they accepted the return on the basis that it does not cover as advertised. So may be worth going down that angle if you have issues- i.e. would need multiple coats to get satisfactory finish

I love the way in which posters are still making suggestions after the OP has already reported a successful refund as conclusion!

I think what happens is that a lot of people start reading, then speed read the rest, or just start their post with what is going through their head at the time, without reading anything after the initial post.

I know what you mean though.

BTW, I love Dulux paint, wont use any other ! lol

I don't think they even read more than the opening post, explains why so many post exactly the same text without even acknowledging or agreeing with an identical earlier post. ;)
