House insurers tend not to cover damage to 3rd parties if caused by storms, that's an Act of God
Just as it doesnt cover the life of someone murdered in another town.
Your home insurance covers your property excluding motor vehicles. It also gives you third party liability insurance, ie insurance for your liabilities to third parties.
An Act of God is irrelevant, unless you happen to be God, in which case it may be excluded because it was an intentional act. If there is no negligence or other tort that creates liability then you've no third party liability and so third party liability insurance doesnt pay out.
As has already been said, to claim off your fathers home insurance you have to prove that he was negligence and then sue him. If the case wins then they will pay and his insurance will be loaded for it. If the claim fails, your costs are increased.
You say you arent at fault, how was your father at fault? If he wasnt, as you seem to possibly suggest by not wanting to prove he was, then why should he have to pay? If you think God was at fault, then sue him.0 -
Sorry, I'm an atheist, act of god doesn't apply as there is no blame for a non-existent being, any more than it was the fault of the flying spaghetti monster
Act of nature maybeSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Was anybody else's first thought that the OP had actually been mistakenly using the automated garage controls instead of his Monster Buggy controller?0 -
What model/year is your vehicle, if only the bonnet is damaged it shouldn't be too costly, if it is you might find it cheaper to get a bonnet from a local scrap yard.0

Many do when theres insurance there to actually pick up the bill, particularly in RTAs where wife and kids are "injured" but then all of them go on a nice holiday with the father after getting the settlement cheques.0
