ok, it involves notanewuser refusing to 'do' father Christmas and then utter rage from cohorts accusing her of denying her DD a decent childhood, to her rigorously defending herself that her dd has a delightful fun filled Christmas but not one that involves her lying about pretend beings, cue more outrage and people refusing to hear that she ensures her dd is free to believe in FC if she chooses when she does come across him at nursery etc.How could a FATHER CHRISTMAS thread get heated>>???/ :rotfl:
PLEASE direct me to it!!!
I admire her fearlessness in the face of hardwired tradition and she's really good at calmly arguing her POV.
Sorry, I've now taken this thread wildly off topic.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

I DONT CARE WHAT YOU YOURSELF CHOOSE TO BELIEVE. CHOOSE ANY ORGANISED RELIGION OR MAKE UP YOUR OWN, NO PROBLEM.
IT'S THE FORCING OF IT ON OTHERS THAT I CARE ABOUT. IN STATE SCHOOLS OR INDUCTING BABIES INTO ANY RELIGION, FOR EXAMPLE.
If you read my other posts properly you'll see that to be the case.
It's harmless. It's part of our culture. Do you want Nativity plays banned too?
Do you not think there is a rich moral founding in what kids are exposed to in school?
I find it quite sad that anybody would want it removed like that.If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

She feels strongly about all sorts of things - have you seen the annual father Christmas thread debacle???

I enjoy reading her views: she challenges me on how and why I think what I do.

And if you despise Christianity, then why on earth would you come on to a thread about it?

To stir the board up a little perhaps as Ican't see any other reasonWhy does it bother people so much that other people have a strong faith?
And why do people bother going into ANY discussion about Christianity if they're an atheist?
It's almost as if people do it JUST to mock and berate Christians. Bit sad and lame IMO.
Thinking about it I think Christianity is probably the only religion,certainly in this country, that people feel 'comfortable' openly mocking.
Although I have been baptised and confirmed, I'm not very religious though I find as I get older I'm having more 'conversations' with God though not in a church setting (so figure that one out) but I do get annoyed when people feel that its ok to pick and choose which bits they want to celebrate2014 Target;
