Savvybuyer wrote: »Well don't forget, whoever's starting the new thread (as usual it's probably wayyyy too early for me to be mentioning this), and it won't be me starting it btw:rotfl:, that you'll need to copy ChrisV's second post. I know I'm extremely rude here (but she can put it with me:p:rotfl:) but don't copy FC's first post as, like nearly all people, she's not a completist and thus hasn't corrected it to the full information. So... normal!:rotfl::rotfl::cool:
I'm joking FC - in a way:o:rotfl: - as we could equally say that's because you have other more pressing things and, unlike me, don't get drawn into things as a result of being obsessed with them:rotfl::rotfl:.
Asperger's is merely an excuse that allows me deliberately to be rude without anyone ever knowing whether I am being deliberate or whether I'm really doing it because I can't help it.
:rotfl::rotfl:No, it isn't - that may be a misconception about it sometimes, I hope I'm not deliberately rude and that, if I am, it's not rudeness in the sense of being rude but instead banter that's understood by all as being jokey and not seriously intended rudeness and therefore sort of acceptable that way! I spake my mind, but I know you can deal with it;). And, as I've said, most people don't have priorities about putting every last detail to rightness. (:o and  -on the one hand, on my part it's a little bit of
that I do have that prioritised, on the other hand  that most people have priority that sees things done 'good enough' rather than totally complete and every detail attended to -: how could you leave anything incomplete and not detailed?_pale_:rotfl:)
I hold my hands up, i was fizzy when I started the thread as well as it being a rush job so on this occasion you are excused for saying my first post is rubbish :rotfl:

I actually felt very sorry for him. Not many things can properly upset him enough to produce tears
but not sticking rigidly to his timetable does.
His news interest isn't the same as yours. He's not so interested in who's reading the news, he's fascinated by the idents that are on just before it (and between other programmes) but which one is on just preceding the news is his thing. That invariably means he hears who is reading the news when it comes on. He has been known to spend hours watching ident re-runs on you tubehe knows them all, when they aired and his equivalent of Christmas is when a new ident comes out
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Snap! (In a way!) I do that sometimes - watching the start title sequence, and the presenter 'doing the walk' at about 17 minutes past one/six/ten:o:o:rotfl::rotfl:.
Realised yesterday (or was it day before or one before that?) that I'd spent over four hours watching the news being read, and still hadn't a clue what any of the stories in the news were:o:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. (I think, when it's one of my 'favourite' presenters, like Chris Rogers, and yes, sadly(?), I do have favourites and not total objectiveness and non-discrimination there:rotfl:, I just watch because he's there and, whilst I hear the words he's saying, aren't really paying any attention to the substance of what is being said, just the fact he's there!:rotfl: Oh well - each to their own!:D Mr Rogers had better not appear too often though, else I'll start wanting someone else to be on there and they'll become my favourite - whoever the 'underdog', not on as often, is.)
I missed the potential for space shuttle dispute between Russia and America - had to watch the story on the catch-up - during the BBC News at One as Reeta Chakrabarti's introduction that Neil Armstrong had said "That's one small step for man..." diverted my attention totally. I was like, no he didn't - he said "That's one small step for a man...", according to certain reports. So, there was a total inaccuracy for me, on some interpretations and the full picture, of that minor, all-important (for me), detail not given.
See, for example, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2193749/Neil-Armstrong-speech-Thats-small-step-man-famous-mankind-words-misquoted.html.
As regards his trust in his PC time and difficulty persuading him it was wrong, I wonder if it would have been easier simply to let him believe that was the right time and for matters to be put right whilst he was asleep tonight so, when he woke up, he wouldn't notice any change? :idea:We all think of that now, after the event - the best ideas sometimes arise sadly only with hindsight.
I don't know what the temper/tantrum(?) is like. I wasn't much like that - and I still am not - I know I could be (and still am) a right stubborn get at times - but... that's because I am right and, if I am right, I cannot be persuaded that something I think is right is wrong when no evidence is presented in order to show me that that is so. Probably because it's wrong:p. But I am also the person who probably most questions myself and what I believe. I am, in fact, very easy to persuade if something really isn't correct - unlike what most people seem to be, if my opinion is wrong I quickly change it so that it is now correct. Most people seem to believe something no matter how much evidence to the contrary is presented:p or, more to the point, unable to be presented as any attempt to persuade them that they are wrong, which they plainly are, merely upsets and offends them and so produces an adverse reaction that, perhaps sadly, I don't even bother trying anymore so controlled by others and so risk-aversive to their potential response, and not wishing to upset anyone, I more nowadays am. If you think something might upset someone, you control yourself and restrain yourself far more than necessary (just in case it might). Chilling effect etc.
Anyway, I hope this post has conveyed - in an acceptable, normally-toned way - the frustration that some people with Asperger's - or maybe just me? - sometimes have to deal with from things such as this (which are not obvious to the 'outside world', until explained as has now been done here).
Not a rant, and I'm glad people can read and understand! (Maybe I just don't know how to do any tactful way of trying to persuade? That's the 'disability', problem in oral communication again there.)
Btw, I 'cheated' on the dates and times of presenter appearances - I don't have all that information in my head but looked it up from a place on the internet that stores all that information - took me ages, it did, going through methodically and putting every one of Reeta Chakrabarti's appearance times onto a post!:rotfl: :doh:The secrets revealed - I could just have said nothing and you'd all have thought I was far more skilled than I actually am.0 -
