Thanks karlie. I'm not sure really, as far as I can see there is only co-op, M&S, Halifax and first direct, so any that's easy to do really.

    I've just done Halifax.

I'd move on to M&S next...all you need to do is switch over a current account. No minimum payments needed, no DDs and no SOs.

£100 gift card will be delivered within a calendar month from switch completion date.

I'd hold off with First Direct until their £125 switch incentive comes back.

    ;)

So can i open an account with say Lloyds then switch it to Halifax and earn £100? how many times can we do this please?
    tia

Halifax you can only do once as anyone who has had a switching bonus since Jan 2012 is excluded.

    Other offers available though.

My question for this afternoon is how do I shock someone into getting their spending under control?

A person I know got the travelling bug this year. Armed with their bonus they went off to Japan for a couple of weeks in the summer and then came home and went to Korea for a couple of weeks - all long haul flights bought last minute so hugely expensive.

Then they went back to work and next thing I knew they had booked more expensive flights and went off to Japan again for 2 weeks - this was supposed to be a cheaper trip as they were staying with someone rather than hosteling - it wasn't

This morning I get a call to cancel a flight booking as their phone went dead as they were booking and they think it went through twice. So I did, it cost £88 to cancel and the refund might take 12 weeks to arrive.

In the meantime I've been getting my head around the total extent of their spending (yes I've got access to the bank statements)
They have a good salary coming in and had a good balance in the current account but the costs involved in these trips and the general extravagant spending - well I made a chart to try and made an extrapolation.
By my reckoning they are going to be totally broke by the end of October and living from pay check to pay check.

Their internet is rubbish, mainly on the phone so I can't send the chart to them

So what shock tactics can I use?

You can lead a horse to water but you can t make them drink...

Be a good example and advise if they will listen...,
