Lucky you. Though the card is quite useful abroad as an ID card -- saves you having to carry the passport.
In Spain you still need passport and driving licence if you're not Spanish...they held me prisoner while OH went to get them all, it was really awful (Puerto Pollenca gestapo):eek::eek:0 -

My question for this afternoon is how do I shock someone into getting their spending under control?
A person I know got the travelling bug this year. Armed with their bonus they went off to Japan for a couple of weeks in the summer and then came home and went to Korea for a couple of weeks - all long haul flights bought last minute so hugely expensive.
Then they went back to work and next thing I knew they had booked more expensive flights and went off to Japan again for 2 weeks - this was supposed to be a cheaper trip as they were staying with someone rather than hosteling - it wasn't
This morning I get a call to cancel a flight booking as their phone went dead as they were booking and they think it went through twice. So I did, it cost £88 to cancel and the refund might take 12 weeks to arrive.
In the meantime I've been getting my head around the total extent of their spending (yes I've got access to the bank statements)
They have a good salary coming in and had a good balance in the current account but the costs involved in these trips and the general extravagant spending - well I made a chart to try and made an extrapolation.
By my reckoning they are going to be totally broke by the end of October and living from pay check to pay check.
Their internet is rubbish, mainly on the phone so I can't send the chart to them
So what shock tactics can I use?“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Do they own their home? Are they mortgage free? When it comes to monthly payments in/out...are they a saver, in negative balance or breaking even?:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member
