But that's a whole seven and a half years away
In reality thats less than 2740 days...so your'e not young for long by your reckoning.
Have to say I subscribe to enterprises way of thinking...whilst I can live and laugh with my friends I too am young!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
We nearly lost our house many years ago. I think we got down to 4 or 5 months in arrears and I can remember avoiding the phone calls from barclaycard about my credit card arrears (I remember picking the phone up to one and not saying anything and the voice back said 'you're gonna have to speak to us sooner or later'
)
I suppose those memories are the ones that scare me back onto the straight and narrow
We learn from our experiences, that makes us who we are
Gosh, that brought back more memories. I recall seeing an electricity board van pull up outside, we ran upstairs and hid  As for the phone calls, we actually had our phone cut off voluntarily for other reasons (well, I say voluntarily, we simply chose not to pay that bill over others). As you say, it makes us who we are. I simply cannot pay more for anything than I have to anymore!Scary thought isn't it I dread growing up and being all sensible
Sorry, are you meant to be sensible when you grow up?
What is the point of growing up then having to act like an adult :rotfl::rotfl:What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Strange as it sounds it's nice to know people have been in a similar situation to us (it was our own making so I'm not looking for sympathy) as in the 'real world' nobody we know has gone through the same thing (if they have they don't mention it).
I don't go into much detail with DH about it and he doesn't even know I was avoiding phone calls (it's a bit naughty of me not to have told him the exact details I suppose) but that's because he tells me about how his family used to avoid phone calls and knocks on the door when he was a child. I've sworn I'd never do that to our kids and they only know money is a bit tight as we have a few debts to clear
I handle all the finances so for years I kept it all to myself, only in the last few years did I finally cave and tell DH the extent of the mess we were inHistoric Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000
Saving for Xmas 2022= . . Amazon £55

That's one of the things I love with this thread. You can actually tell people about the mess you got into and you don't get judged
We are close to paying off our mortgage now, close enough to think that they wouldn't try to take it off us now, or at least they would struggle if they did. We still have rough times, my OH is self-employed and business can be tight at times, but we are getting there, and hoping to have the mortgage paid off next year
Annoyed with Candy Crush. Was excited (sad I know) to see new levels on Dreamworld, but for the most part they are just repeats. They are getting as bad as the BBC
On that note, I really ought to go and do some housework. Want to try a new way of organising my freezer so that is the first stop. If you don't see me later I may have fallen in :eek:What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Hilarious. He was 62 going on 20 x
In my head I'm still 16 years old
Dad looked after the kids yesterday and apologised because he let them play football in the kitchen while I was out and a drink got knocked over.
He seemed surprised when I said it was what we did anyway (cushion footballs!) :rotfl:
Me and DH were running round and throwing the little ones on the sofa last night (big pile of cushions) and we've been known to run round having nerf gun fights before
I may be old outside but I'm definitely still young on the inside :j
I might have to try the cling film on the pint of beer :think:Historic Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
