Either way - my personal rule of thumb is either to freeze fresh meat to be cooked and eaten once defrosted (like steaks, roast joints etc), or to cook meals with fresh meat and then freeze in portions (e.g. stews). I'm sure other people refreeze things several times without problem, I just choose not to

Wouldn't it have to be stated on the packaging if it had been previously frozen? As it wouldn't then be suitable for re-freezing
