These are the terms of using most operators' services and they are there because of having to recycle the numbers as ste_wilko has said.
The number wasn't recycled. It was still working. They just stole the credit. Seems that you are unable to understand....
I'll thank you to refrain from spurious comment.0 -

Where doesn't "continually consider the validity" come from?
All you have to do is ONE chargeable action every SIX MONTHS, hardly continual...NiftyDigits wrote: »The number wasn't recycled. It was still working. They just stole the credit. Seems that you are unable to understand....
I'll thank you to refrain from spurious comment.
Her comment is far from spurious, it is quite accurate.
Also, they didn't steal the credit, you gave it to them as you agreed to under the T&Cs you appear you have been aware of.
If you can't be bothered to use the service as agreed to, why would you expect them to do anything but what they say they will?====0 -

Anoneemoose wrote: »You can thank me all you want. I stand by my comment and it is ironic really that it is you who doesn't understand - not me. I did not say YOUR number specifically had been recycled - I said that (all of) the networks impose these t&c's so they are able to recycle unused numbers.
Generally (IIRC), the numbers are 'suspended' after 6 months of inactivity but can be restored if requested shortly after- useful in cases of 'oversight'. However, they are generally 'quarantined' for at least a further six months before being reissued.
I love it when people blame the big bad companies but in the same breath admit they don't read the t&c's. Only got yourself to blame and arguing with folks on here is not going to change that.
I'm not going to argue continually with every fool and his girlfriend. (I'm not saying specifically WHICH fool and his girlfriend).
Babbling on about recycling numbers as if no one understands it.
I'll explain once more and then leave them to it.
If the SIM was no longer working, I would have no issue, but the fact is that the SIM was still live. I could continue to use it as long as I topped it up. So there was a dispute as to how long it was out of use.
I checked online and could see that they had just only taken the money.
I had an instance before where they stole my credit, but in that instance I was able to show that I had used it less than six months before and after writing to Head Office, they refunded my credit and showed Goodwill.
This time when I wrote to T-Mobile, they did not even bother to reply.
So as far as I am concerned, they are scum.
No one is arguing about to the T&C, only SmartAlecs who think that they know best and babble on regardless.
As ste_wilko has suggested, even if I was outside the six month date, they still have the option of replacing the credit.
If the account no longer existed, they could say that they have no record. But my account and SIM were alive and kicking, together with the fresh deduction of £51.75.
No need to put a credit on a new SIM, they could have simply reversed the deduction. But instead, they chose to keep it and to not even bother to reply to my letter.
You can defend it with talk of T&C if you like. I say they stole my credit.
I'm not going to chase them down for the money. I'll get it back from them one way or another anyway. I don't get mad, I get 'even'.
Now you two go on and have a nice day.0 -

And (I don't know how to quote just one section) you admit that this has happened to you before. So instead of taking any notice of it, you let it happen again.
I will have a nice day, thanks. I am not £50 down due to my own silliness.
Yes indeed, it happened before and they admitted that they were in the wrong.
Did you miss that part? Are you thick or just pretending to be so?
Here, let me help you:I had an instance before where they stole my credit, but in that instance I was able to show that I had used it less than six months before and after writing to Head Office, they refunded my credit and showed Goodwill.
Insulting people? Fool? If the cap fits, wear it.
I never wrote that I was £50 down. I wrote that they stole £51.75.
Part of the £51.75 was credit that they had given as goodwill for their first blunder.
I can see that you will keep putting your foot in your mouth in an attempt to have the last word. Whatever floats your boat.
Doesn't bother me, you are bringing a smile to my face.... as the joker of the morn.
I'm out of the country for four to six months at a time. I use the SIM just before I leave and again as soon as I get back.
I have seven mobile telephones and in excess of 20 SIMs as I travel a lot and have quite a few local SIMs.
So it's a fair bit of hassle to keep track of every SIM.
Someone like you pontificating to me feels like nothing more than an slightly annoying fly.0 -

Obviously annoying you enough for you to continue arguing - when you said you wouldn't.
I am not the one looking foolish..or thick.
Oh but you are.....
Where did I write that my scenario was exactly the same as the OP's??
I wrote that T-Mobile stole my money. The rest you made up by yourself. Making rather silly assumptions.
As I wrote before...I'm still smiling. Swatting flies with my electronic fly swatter is remarkably satisfying.0
