At least you will lose your own money in a crash, very thoughtful of you. Well done.

I risk losing my money (if I ever sell, no plans to) & I risk gaining a large sum of money.... Either way you're guaranteed to lose money by paying off your LL's mortgage as prev discussed.

On top of this I will have no housing costs in under 10 yrs. Yet you could be renting at an ever increasing cost for the next 50yrs.
So do continue with your drivel it's keeping us all entertained. :)

What is it with you lot and the ad hominems?

HPC-ers have at various times accused me of being...

    -An EA

    -A Labour troll.

    -A Tory troll.

And now an employee of the builders. :rotfl:

I'm afraid it's much simpler than that....

I don't view HPI as intrinsically moral or immoral, just an inevitable outcome of the housing shortage.

And whilst I have profited immensely, will no doubt continue to do so, and have no qualms about it whatsoever..... not even I am selfish enough to think it's a good idea to exclude an entire generation from ownership thanks to an entirely avoidable housing shortage.

So while the shortage was bad before, is now an order of magnitude worse, thanks to the self defeating policies of mortgage rationing that you lot spent the last 7 years cheering on.....

If you want cheaper houses, sustainably over the long term, build a few million more of them.

There really is no other way....

Who on earth would be dumb enough to pay me to make thousands of posts on one of the most hidden forums on the internet....
Hamish could be a member of hundreds of forums?

    Ooooh, the plot thickens.

Maybe I'm even a member of HPC under a different name.....

Perhaps I spend my days there making posts so ridiculous, so outlandish, and so angry that I turn off any newbies from the cause of crashing prices?

    I could be Venger.

    Or Eric Pebble.

    Or even.....

If someone in your street sells for less than you paid, and the houses are similar, that is the new value of your house, you have no control over the process.

As my rent has not increased in 17 years I am not holding my breath for sudden increases any time soon. In fact I am pretty sure that if I continue to rent I will be DECREASING the payments as more and more BTL`ers get desperate for tenants.

Yes, as does common sense and any useful contribution to the discussion.

    This sub-board is.

Have to be logged on to view, hidden from google, and typically sees no more than a hundred or so visitors a day.

If I wanted to spend 18,000+ posts changing the opinion of the masses, this would be about the last place I'd choose....

You're going to have to explain this to me.

So if my next door neighbours decide to sell for £50k, you're telling me I must immediately sell my house for the same price...... why didn't someone tell me this earlier.... I feel so foolish now.

As for the price of your rent not increasing in 17 yrs.....

I've got a sneaking suspicion that you're not being 100% honest.
