It isn’t the hotspots of the south, such as London or Oxford. The answer, surprisingly, is Aberdeen, where house prices have more than doubled over the past decade, according to various studies, including a report published late last year by the Nationwide Building Society.
Average house prices are now 120 per cent higher than 10 years ago, which is, albeit from a low base, the biggest regional percentage rise in the UK.
Some London boroughs have seen similar price rises, such as Westminster in the heart of the capital and the western pocket of Hammersmith and Fulham, but Aberdeen is the only city to have seen nominal growth above 100 per cent over the past decade. In London, as a whole, the increase has been 82 per cent, by comparison.

Yep.
Financial policy is being set for London, and not for Scotland, so they keep telling us....
Never mind the fact that the top performing property market in the UK is in Scotland.
The city with the lowest unemployment in the UK is in Scotland.
etc....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Why? In a word: energy. Oil and gas
It will go all the further when it's revenue is used to support the 8% :beer:0 -
Everyone knows that there is nothing greedy about going independent.
It's the ones who are scared to loose a few quid to better their country that are selfish and greedy!
as always you change your tune whenever the facts are challenged.
in your last post you were going to be richer but now not so sure.
obviously so and it doesn't matter, as any faux argument is expendable, as the only objective is separation from the English at any cost whatsoever.
just the same appalling sentiment as the Flower of Scotland that shows the Scottish is such a poor light.0 -

What facts are these?
Is anyone sure if they are going to be richer or poorer, on either side?
I could bore you with the reasons why a lot of Scots want independence, but you wouldn't get it and would just ask me again a few posts later.
No one thinks they will be financially richer right away, but we will be richer in belief and better for managing our own affairs.
I'm not sure about all that racial stuff you keep throwing at us is, but you just need to watch the Commonwealth games for a short time to realise how friendly and welcoming Scots are.0 -
Yes house prices are ridiculous here. It's very hard for people who are on normal wages and we don't even have the equivalent of London waiting.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

what are the reason for independence?
Alex is desperate to give all the major features away to Europe (or anyone (other than the English ) who will take you.
However, does a self confident nation with the magnificent history of Fleming, Stephenson, Kelvin, Smith etc choose a mean inward looking song to represent themselves about a minor battle with the English.
The answer of course, lies in their deep insecurity and lack of self confidence that underlies the anger against the English that any cost or stupidity is OK if the result is separation from the English.
and for the record I know many Scots who I count as friends, I have travelled extensively and often in Scotland, have climb their highest peaks, have been bitten by their most horrid mossies, have enjoyed the most excellent hospitality but that is as nothing compared to the choice of Flower of Scotland by a democratic free people in the 21st century.0 -
