No idea of what you are saying.
No idea of why you think units of 5 million people are special : it seems to me Europe is run by the German economic power house in their own interests and not in the interests of the smaller countries.
The average size of a German Länd is 5.2 million just about bang on the size of Scotland. The average size of a US state is about 6 million.
A Canadian province, 3.5 million, an Australian state almost 4 million. a Belgian region outside Brussels about 5 million.
So, whether or not Scotland's population size is "special", (whatever that means), there exists a good track record of territorial units the size of Scotland exercising autonomy successfully. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

you make an excellent case why Scotland should stay in the UK and enjoy the comparable level of autonomy as the German Land or Australian states at the local level and also enjoy the strength that comes from being part of the whole.
I am unaware there is a strong movement for either country to break into 5 million people bits;
maybe that is because they are all self confident, strong, outward looking people without the Scottish inferiority complex
I doubt that any of the Land or States have local state anthems that commemorate a 800 year old battle against their nearest neighbour and major trading partner.
I note you have no plans to risk living in the new Scotland.0 -

As I said earlier, federalism would be the popular choice of many living in Scotland, but is not on the ballot paper.
Have a read at some of Iain MacWhirter's articles on the subject - he has had an interesting journey on the way to a Yes vote.

is just one
Once you get an idea in your head, you just hold onto it regardless of what anyone else says - not sure how conducive that is to debate though. In your mind the Swiss are all forward thinking, while us Scots all have an inferiority complex - the irony is that you accuse us of racism!0 -
We already have a few bicker threads on the Scottish referendum guys...
This one is about Aberdeen house prices.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

the UK is already a federal structure with parliaments in Scotland NI and Wales
the powers are evolving
Scotland already has powers that the SNP chooses not to use.
Why do you think that the Scottish people chose Flower Of Scotland as a de facto national anthem and their face to the rest of the world?
Why do you say you are fighting for 'independence ' when you will give all the independence to the EU as soon as you are able?
Support anyone but the English?
I must judge based on the actions of the people concerned.
I have no evidence that the peoples of Switzerland celebrate killing the peoples of neighbouring cantons.0 -

We don't have a federal system.
The Scottish people have never voted on Flower of Scotland - as I said to you, I doubt if would be picked if a vote was taken.
Your comments on the EU are ridiculous.
I don't support Anyone but the English. Watch the Commonwealth Games for an afternoon and see Scottish fans support a variety of nations. If what you really believe is true, you wouldn't be seeing people cheer the English competitors, and I wouldn't be seeing hundreds of people walk about Glasgow draped in the St George's Flag and encountering zero abuse.
You say you judge according to actions, but you have no experience of Scottish life and don't believe any Scots on here who try to tell you that we aren't racist, this isn't about the English, and it isn't about the SNP or Alex Salmond. Ignorance and intransigence, with more than a little arrogance in there too.0 -

what would you say the de facto anthem of Scotland is?
is Flower of Scotland ever played on Scottish state or official occasions?
from WikiFor most international sporting events Scotland uses "Flower of Scotland" as its national anthem. These events include matches of the Scottish national football team and the Scottish rugby union team.[6] The song was also used as the victory anthem of Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in 2010, replacing Scotland the Brave.[7]
and
In June 2006 the Royal Scottish National Orchestra conducted an online opinion poll on their website, asking visitors to choose a favourite to be Scotland's national anthem. With over 10,000 votes cast, "Flower of Scotland" came first with 41% of the votes, followed by "Scotland the Brave" with 29%.[8]
Tune Votes (%)
"Flower of Scotland" 41%
"Scotland the Brave" 29%
"Highland Cathedral" 16%
"A Man's A Man for A' That" 7%
"Scots Wha Hae" 6%0 -
I've never heard Flower of Scotland used as an official national anthem, pretty sure it isn't used. My personal preference would be for a new anthem commissioned which looks to the future. There was talk of 'Scotland will flourish' being used,.0

there is clear support in Scotland for it's widespread use for the 'official' song for rugby, football, games etc.
why?
is it because the people want to show love and affection to the English?0
