Breakdown cover

Bonjour folks!

My breakdown policy with AutoAid runs out on 11th August. So far I haven't had a breakdown and thus no reason to call them out.

What are people's recommendations for which breakdown company to go with?

Can you find any company that offers all the features that Autoaid does for less money? If not stick with them.

What about the AA, RAC and Green Flag? I don't mind paying a bit more if the customer service is worth the difference in price.

GEM Motoring Assist have had good reviews but their reclaim policy is a tad more expensive than AutoAid.

Don't waste your money on Autoaid!

Startrescue is arguably the cheapest breakdown provider out there and unlike Autoaid you're not out of pocket before they reimburse you. Used them a few times and they've always sent someone fairly quickly. They have a very good iphone app where you can report your breakdown.

A cheap subscription that offers rapid recovery for the cost of paying for the recovery with your own credit card that will be reimbursed - quite possibly before you have to pay the bill - is hardly a "waste of money".
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Look like that might be true if you want to cover one named driver and one not-very-old car. Adding more than one driver on multiple vehicles puts the price up significantly.

I tend to agree with you. I've been with AutoAid for years now, can't fault them. Covers me and the missus, in any car.

OP, I'd say you could do a lot worse than sticking with them, particularly if you have A. N. Other half, they're probably the cheapest you're going to find.

I followed the MSE recommendation a fey years ago and used Quoteline Direct for £59 a year. One breakdowns outside my house and two separate long recovery trips home later I am a very satisfied customer. Excellent value for money, great service, and European cover too. Does only cover me though so pay separate for my wife (we have two cars). It may therefore depend on your circumstances.

I'm with Green Flag. Seems okay.
