Food - I am back to doing 16/8 and on a good day, 18/6 (I only eat during a 6 or 8 hour period out of the 24 hours). Still eating too much chocolate as we still have some left, but that will be gone soon.

Mortgage - The £4500 has come off, which is lovely, and the savings account is nice and full. I reckon it should only take a year or two to become mortgage neutral - hurray!

Admin - I have closed the 123 credit card as we only just make enough cashback to cover the fee most months now OH is working nearer to home. We're just going to use the current account and we have a back-up credit card if needed.

Savings - I have just applied to switch my personal current account (which has about £150 in it) to First Direct. I should get £125 for switching, then I can save £300 a month in the 5% interest linked savings account. It will require setting up some standing orders so we always put £1000 in each month and remember to send £300 to the linked account. I know I should have done this earlier, but better late than never!

Bargains - I took DD on the bus yesterday to town for the first time ever. She had £26.59 burning a hole in her pocket and intended to spend it! I bought a gift for my Mum for £3 and one for OH for £4 from Boots (half price) as their birthdays are coming up in the next few months. Then I got myself 2 new tops for less than £8 in the Gap sale! You should see the state of some of my old tops so these are definitely needed. Got OH some PJs from Home Bargains and a few other bits that we needed. Then DD bought this awful noisy horse that she adores. A good day out with no meltdowns or moaning! (that came when we got home...)

Exercise - I've been out of the house every day so far and just annoyed that I haven't got my Fitbit to record the steps yet! It's freezing today so not sure if I'll get out, but we'll see.

Other Spending - I have ordered a new wok (half price) as ours has lost all of it's non-stickness (it is 6 years old and well used to be fair), 2 new pillows as ours literally fell apart when I went to wash the pillow cases yesterday, and some bathroom scales reduced to £5 as I am tempted to know how much I weigh now.

DD news - CAMHS rang and have already had a meeting regarding us (I was very surprised!). They are referring us for FASD testing and have contacted the school to strongly urge them to get an educational psychologist assessment!!! :D:D:D I had asked for the latter but they said she didn't need it. I have mixed feelings about the former as I always want to cry when I think about it, but I know it needs to be done. DD's memory problems are getting more and more noticeable. So I am currently feeling hopeful and scared.

If you're wondering how on earth I have done all of this - DD is with grandparents for a few hours this morning. My first bit of quiet in weeks!

I'm pleased to have got stuff done as my To-do list for once DD is back in school is already quite long!

  • I'm pleased things are moving for you in terms of DD though I get how you feel. It would be great if you get Ed Psych involvement, it's so hard to get. It was suggested for DS and the old School just poohed it. I was only saying last night I'm pleased the assessment is about to start, but worried about the outcome being what I expected / not what I expected / nothing at all!

I have a workman round today to put up the new shelves and put in the new fireplace. I had underestimated both of these jobs! No idea how much it will all cost but as we've used him twice before and he gave a good price, I trust him. He's also lending me his tile cutter so I won't need to buy one.

I am now wishing I had already painted the tiles. Looks like I'll be doing it on my birthday as it's the only day I'm free but I can think of worse things to do. Then I need to lay them (hopefully youtube can help) before he comes back next week to finish the job.

Tomorrow we need to take the rats to the vet as Adeline was sneezing like crazy yesterday. The other two seem okay but I'd rather get them checked to avoid an extra visit.

    Happy Birthday to me! :bdaycake:

So far it's going rather well. DD ran in and shouted Happy Birthday! and let me open my gifts without trying to open them herself, which was a success! I got my Fitbit, which I've just properly set up (it's a lot snazzier than my last one), a lovely piece of West German pottery, a "really hard puzzle", some hand cream, a toiletry set, oven gloves (thank goodness - ours was more stains than glove), tea towels, table mats and coasters (all kitchen stuff matching), an umbrella, fancy soap, and a lottery ticket. I got myself a box of Thorntons too. :o

IKEA have sent me a £5 voucher. I could have got a free burrito too but we don't have a Bar Burrito near to us.

My First Direct stuff has arrived so I need to sort that soon.

In other news, the rats are on antibiotics but none are very ill, so that was a relief. Trying to get the drugs into them is a tricky business.

The workman was £80 for the work he did this week and he's coming back next week to finish once I have painted and laid the tiles. He's even lent (leant?) me his tile cutter. We need to get tile primer too.

The car bike rack is going to cost £69 but we might pay the £15 to get it fitted properly by the shop.

In eating news - I have been sticking to only eating in a 6-8 hour period but eating rather a lot. Despite this, the new bathroom scales tell me I am 9st 9lbs at my lightest (it depends on the time of day), which is pretty good for me. Tonight I shall be eating a massive piece of birthday cake. :) I'm going to try logging my food for a few weeks but I find it a bit tricky as we mostly make stuff from scratch and it's not worth the effort of measuring every ingredient.

OH is driving me insane by constantly using the joint account for coffees and lunches, when he's supposed to use his own money. Essentially, he's too lazy to check his balance so prefers to use the joint then I have to work it out and take it off next month's allowance. The problem is that his current debt (to our account) is more than a month's money!!

I'm going to update the spreadsheet then I better start making the templates for the tile painting or it will never get done. I should probably do some exercise too as according to fitbit, walking around the house doesn't count as exercise. :rotfl:

Happy Birthday Amycool! What great presents and well done on the weight loss - I'm back on soup week but so not feeling it today! Still only one more day then its the weekend. I find myself marching round and round in the house to get my steps up on my fitbit - it kind of becomes addictive!

I'm bad for the coffee on switch thing too! I've started to give myself £20 in cash each week to pay for them. Works for me.
