Until they announce it on an internet forum0 -
Bragging about how much you've spent on a watch on a forum is sad.
a £10 watch from Argos performs the same function of a watch (i.e, tells the same time) as a £3000 bit of brag-bling!
A fool and his money are easily parted.
Oh and I drive a white van by the way.0 -

Someone being worried about how other people spend their own money is what I would refer to as sad.
One mention on a forum is hardly bragging especially as the post in question is related to the original post.
I also have a good watch and if I was to sell it today, I would get back pretty much what I paid for it a few years ago.0 -

If you think a £10 watch is comparable to a £3k watch, clearly you're an idiot. Thanks for conforming to the "white van man" stereotype.0 -

10 years time your £10 watch will be in landfill. The £3,000 watch will probably have appreciated to £4,000.

My £10 'Tenerife Rolex' is still going strong 24 years on! The thousands I could have spent on a genuine one went on paying off my mortgage 15 years early.0 -

Interesting, should I invest in a few £3000 watches for my retirement?

Let's not be silly now, nobody will guarantee any investment.
Rolex for one are quick to put up their prices so it's not a stretch that a desired model might appreciate, it's a collectible, sought after brand..
At the end of the day you buy what you like and can afford. If you have Argos money you buy a cheap watch, but if a few thousand pocket change to you then you'd probably buy the decent one.
Even then, what's wrong with saving hard to buy something you like? And who's to judge what Is frivolous.?0
