Fathers but as a wee boy it made sense. Also, he loves his dad.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Sorry quick add on- with tradition, he has my name as his middle name (russian tradition), this could work for other people

Mine (both born in Russia) have a variant of my first name and my surname.

Georgian (me)/Armenian (OH) tradition differs from Russia in that OH doesn't have my surname anyway :)

My two children have their father's surname.

We keep intending to get married, just haven't got round to it yet!

Are you assuming that all women change their name when they marry?

We gave DS his dad's surname, but we have sinced married.

Unless you are not with or have no intention of staying with the child's father, I don't see why you wouldn't give them the father's name.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

All my 3 ( 2 different dads) have my surname TBH i dont understand why I would give them a partners name if we were not married I know loads of people with families full of different surnames- couple of kids both with different dads each taking their surname and Mum has a different one - now WHY??

BTW when i got married i kept my maiden name- and so still carried same name as my kids. If husband has been worried overs names then he was welcome to change his to mine

Maybe because the child is the fathers and the mothers, so both parents have an equal right for the child to have their surname.

TBH - the attitude that the child should have the mothers name annoys me, as does mothers assuming that the child will stay with them if the spilt up. A child has 2 parents, and the both have equal rights (and equal responsibilities) towards the child.

(And I'm female - but see what an unfair world it is for fathers)

  • Ours have their dad's surname as it's much more interesting than mine.

They have my mitochondrial DNA after all, so I though it only fair :D
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

My girls have there Dad's surname as it was important to him and I didn't mind either way.

Ours have both of our surnames, mine is very unusual so wanted to preserve it and carry it on too.
