Buying a vehicle dealer now wants to reduce part exchange value

I'm in the middle of purchasing a second hand vehicle.
Payment is part cash, part exchange and the rest on finance
Car was ordered with dealer 10 days ago finance sorted at the same time and deposit paid to secure the new vehicle.
The dealer did not inspect the part exchange vehicle just looked value up and called his boss.
Now the dealer has been out to look at the part exchange vehicle and has advised there is something wrong with it and will not give the same amount for the part exchange.
Where do I stand here. Can the dealer do this or should they have looked at the part exchange vehicle before offering the part exchange value.
I know some people would say walk away but this is a specialist vehicle that me and my family have set out hearts on.

What's wrong with the vehicle? What reason has the dealer given?0

The dealer should have checked the part exchange before now. I would walk away.0

It's a motorhome. The dealer has advised there is damp in the vehicle. Something I did not know about. Only detectable with specialist equipment.0

Oh really?
He is taking you for a sucker, have you done a search for reviews of the garage to see if he tries this sort of trick regularly?0 -
Did he have the opportunity to inspect at the time you entered the contract (ie did you go to his premises in the motorhome) if so he is in breach if not then he would have have the right to inspect it before concluding the contract.
So if he didn't have the chance to inspect it then I reckon there is nothing you can do.0 -
It seems this is quite common ploy with motor homes and caravans, stick to your guns and insist that the dealer had the chance to inspect your vehicle which they didn't take. Try not to buy with your heart the salesman will latch onto to it.If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you!0

We took the motorhome with us. He had the chance to inspect it before we signed and paid the deposit.
Have they the right to ask for extra moneys or cancel the contract. Or can we follow through with the original contract0 -

What does the contract say about the part exchange? Does it say £x with no conditions attached or does it say £x dependant on a full examination of the of the part ex vehicle (or something similar).
Even if they had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle before agreeing a figure, if the contract allows for them to inspect the vehicle and amend their offer later then they can do it. You would then have the option to either walk away and get anything you paid back or pay the difference.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
