We took the motorhome with us. He had the chance to inspect it before we signed and paid the deposit.

Have they the right to ask for extra moneys or cancel the contract. Or can we follow through with the original contract

I would say you have a contract but at the end of the day if he plays hardball your only recourse will be the courts. Is it worth the battle?

    Oh really?

He is taking you for a sucker, have you done a search for reviews of the garage to see if he tries this sort of trick regularly?
Damp in a motorhome is very common. The dealer is entitled to make a final inspection before finalising the sale.

OP, if it was you who were buying the motorhome from a dealer who told you it was in good condition only to find out when you went to pick it up that it had damp or any other fault you wouldn't be happy paying the agreed price, would you?

On what basis are they entitled to do this, if they've already signed a contract.

Firstly, at no point has OP said they told the dealer it was in 'good condition'.

Secondly, if you signed a contract to buy something without bothering to walk a few meters to look at what you were buying, you'd hardly have reason to complain.

Where does the op say this? I can't see it.

    They don't. Hence my point.

So in that case they may well have then and just not added it as part of the information yet. With the condition not being one to be seen by sight as the op has said the op may well have considered it to be in good condition.

Indeed it is, so a company selling a motor home would surely check the vehicle for this before offering a part exchange price?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

You can only go on what the OP has said. You can't give advice on the basis of a fantasy conversation that's just been made up.

Demand he sticks to it, if he won't, walk away. I know what he would prefer ;)

Look at what you signed. It should state the cost of the vehicle, the amount for the the PartEx, the amount remaining etc.

If it does.. thats the contract you signed. Demand they stick to it.. or if they want to break the contract you want your deposit back and you walk away.

If you signed something without that cost breakdown on it.. you've been stiffed. I'd still try to get your deposit back. You don't want to be dealing with that sort of person.
