Retailers must be mugs!

I read the various postings and have concluded certain retailers must be real mugs. I no longer go into a Parking Eye managed car park. I also avoid managed car parks of Aldi. I always rush my shopping and get out as quickly as possible. I won't dwell as I might spend more! Certain retailers in my part of the world have lost out by hundreds of thousands of pounds of custom by their car parks becoming known as parking hazards. Word of mouth soon gets around and certain retailers are boycotted. There are so many supermarkets and other retailers so who needs the hassle of PCN,s. Shop on the internet and forget parking woes. Not fair though on the small retailers who depend on footfall in our small market towns.

Some retailers have got the point. B&Q kicked out parkingeye because they figured they were losing millions in lost revenue, so it was worth biting the bullet and forking out a few hundred thousand to buy out of the contract.
Apparently customers are now starting to slowly drift back, and revenue is up again in some sites.Hi, we’ve approved your signature. It's awesome. Please email the forum team if you want more praise - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Whilst it might not be the root cause of their problems, nonetheless it is difficult not to link in somewhere the presence of PPCs at both Tesco and Morrisons. Also Tesco car parks are hopelessly laid out in my view, definite 'door ding' territory.
That said, out of the frying pan ......... if one considers moving to the likes of Aldi or Lidl. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The big problem that supermarkets face is that their margins are so small that even a slight drop-off in customer visits leads to a disproportionate fall in their profits. They also need to get customers in the frame of mind to buy more than they actually really need. 1million PCN's issued per year. Are these customers going to go back to that car park in a hurry? I don't think so!REVENGE IS A DISH BETTER SERVED COLD0

I've solved the 'door ding' problem now I've got grandchildren, by keeping a child seat strapped in to the back seat of my Jag. I now park it in the extra wide parent & child spaces.Whilst it might not be the root cause of their problems, nonetheless it is difficult not to link in somewhere the presence of PPCs at both Tesco and Morrisons. No need to consider the chav-infested hellholes of Aldi or Lidl, most branches of Waitrose or M&S Food don't have PPC parasites in their car parks.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
I've been so spectacularly unsuccessful at getting a ticket in my local Sainsbury's I'm fast coming to the conclusion that despite the ECP signs there is no enforcement. I don't shop in Sainsbury's of course, I just go there to try and get a ticket.
Will have to cast my net further. There's a Highview site a few miles away where I know they enforce, 'cos I've seen threads about it on here!

Local Asda and Sainsburys don't have leeches, not sure about Tesco as don't go there. Maybe even the big boys learn.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Our local Waitrose does have a PPC (Britannia), but it's a halfhearted effort. There are no signs at the entrance or in the actual car park. In fact the only sign at all is attached to the wall just by the store entrance. So completely non BPA compliant. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Same here, I didn't even know they were there until I saw a Britannia attendant in the car park the other day.0
