Parcel stolen from doorstep!

Hello,
I bought a item from a seller on ebay, asked them not dispatch until 21/7 as I wouldn't be at the property until later on that evening (explained I was moving house).
Anyways they sent the parcel on the 18/7 as u can imagine, the courier delivered the item on the 21/7 and left the item in a 'secure location', well this is not the case as it and another item which was not from ebay was stolen before I could get to them.
I have contacted the seller to explain the situation and to request a replacement. I offered to help them to claim through the courier but they don't seem to keen to help me.
I should add I have contacted the courier to confirm they did actually leave it, checked with new neighbours and looked everywhere.
I don't want my money back, I just want the item and as you can imagine I'm quite upset. Not really want you need after moving two hours away to another county. (Nice to know I can't trust anyone on my street).
I spoke to ebay who said I'm guaranteed my money back as the item didn't reach me but I'm unsure.
If worst comes to worse and I need to claim for INR, would I win? As I'll assume the courier signed for it.
Any help would be appreciated.
** I forgot to mentioned the seller confirmed they would not dispatch until the 21/7 after I originally messaged**

What does the online tracking say? I'd open a dispute for INR as it's not your signature.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
It just says "left in a secure location" - I called them to query where this was as no card was left and basically it was left on my porch.
Thank you for your advice, I was unsure whether I'd win the dispute although I was thinking the same as neither the seller or myself have instructions to the courier to leave the item.0 -

Ebay only needs signature for items of £750 and over.
OP, does the online tracking provide what ebay states it needs for "proof of delivery" ie -
“Proof of delivery” is online documentation from a postal company that includes all of the following:- A status of “delivered” (or equivalent in the country to which the item was delivered) and the date of delivery.
- The recipient’s address, showing at least the city/county or postcode (or international equivalent).
- Signature Confirmation for transactions that total £750 or more.

So basically I'm fudged if thy don't agree to replace for me0 -
It is down to negligence but you have had your property stolen. No different to if you had left your bicycle in your porch. At this stage I'd contact the police and the courier company with the seller's assistance.
As a seller I've had it happen a few times. One was a case worth about £100 that a courier driver just threw over a hedge, oddly enough the driver admitted to having done that, he never even found the right hedge! On that occasion I refunded the buyer and claimed from the courier..0 -
Thank you all, I'll try my luck with the seller then ebay but if they both say no, then put it down to bad luck.0

Dont think the buyer has had his item stolen, because he has not recived it and it is not the buyers responsability to chase couriers, but if it was me I would assist if seller/courier needs info.
"
Contact the seller and explain that you haven’t received the goods you ordered. The seller may argue that their obligations ended when the goods were left.
But make the point that you didn't agree to the goods being left in this way and that by not delivering them to you, the seller is in breach of contract.
If the seller tries to argue that the delivery driver failed to follow the delivery instructions given, explain that the seller can’t escape responsibility by subcontracting some of their obligations to a third party.
You contracted with the seller for the delivery, not the delivery driver, therefore responsibility rests with the seller."

OP have a read of whats in that links, there is a template letter that might be usefull? I would not try a INR claim just yet, has the seller responded to you yet ?0 -

Don't put it down to bad luck! For all you know it was never stolen and might have been delivered to a neighbour or even a different street instead. Did anybody actually see the goods sitting in this 'secure' area they claim to have left it in?
Have you checked your wheelie bins? I know it sounds ridiculous, but I had to fish my university books out from a bin full of rubbish when a Yodel delivery driver decided that would be a good 'secure' place to put them...
As far as you are aware the item has not been received. Just approach on that basis and don't make any assumptions about what might or might not have happened to it. Just stick to the simple fact that the item wasn't at your house and you never received any sort of card from the courier.0
