How to prevent child's usage of landline

I also had an old fashioned corded phone for the landline - just one - in the lounge. That stopped us all chatting on the phone!somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

This wouldn't stop her obtaining her own handset for a pound or so and just plugging it in when you are not there though...No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'd get her to pay for the calls from her pocket money or savings account on this occasion.
However I'd also be looking at why she calls so much on the landline: Does she have access to internet or a fair amount of call allowance on her mobile? Is she alone in the house a lot so calls friends because she's lonely or bored? (one of DD's friends ran up a huge bill some years ago but it turned out that she was alone in the house all evening at just 11). If she wants a contract with more minutes on her mobile, perhaps this could be upped as her next birthday/christmas present rather than buying stuff she doesn't need so much?0 -

You think it's the hospital, but actually it's a private company that provides this "facility":
