How to prevent child's usage of landline

At least you'll be able to keep track of the numbers she's calling.

When I used the phone too much, my mother would just make me pay the bill (from pocket money, birthday/christmas money, savings or doing chores if I didn't have the cash - all of these options are possible, even if you live in a village in the middle of nowhere).0

This thread reminds me how my mum blocked mobiles being called from the house phone except my younger sibling would just call the operator and call the mobile that way. So the mobile calls cost even more! Funny now looking back but I don't remember my mum being too impressed at the time :rotfl:0

Can she not skype her friends instead?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I had this problem years ago and contacted my provider (then BT) and put a block on mobiles. I've since transferred to Talk Talk and tranferred the block which I still have. I set a pin number if I need to but I too always use my mobile to call mobiles (using inclusive minutes instead of racking up the landline).somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

Thank you to all who have responded. It has given me a lot to think about, not just regarding phones but behaviour and punishment.
I found it easier to just choose which battles to have, blocking mobile calls was one less challenge. We did talk about why, but it wasn't negotiable. Interestingly you only have to put a block on for a couple of months, they learn.0 -
It's already been established early in the thread that Sky does not offer these "advanced calling features" which allow calls from mobiles to be blocked. Going to another provider is not currently an option either...pandora205 wrote: »I had this problem years ago and contacted my provider (then BT) and put a block on mobiles.0 -
Reading this thread has just brought back memories of our old dial phone at home and my mum used to put on the silver locks on the dial so you could not use it.
She was confused when the bill was getting higher every month. Little did she know my sister had learned how to "tap" the phone by using the pips under the receiver according to the phone number eg if the number was 1,2,3 you would press the pips once, then twice, then three times. It took ages if the number had loads of 0's in it as she had to tap it 10 times but she got there:rotfl:
It took my mum a hell of a long time to find her out:D
