Sky upfront annual line rental - does it still exist

I wondered if anyone had managed to pay their sky annual up front line rental recently.

Mine is due for renewal, this will be my 3rd year and its always a struggle convincing sky that they do it

The odd thing is looking at my account now it says I am on a free offer until August so I suppose I don't have to start the discussion with them until then - July is actually my anniversary month

On my bill it appears as a payment and then its credited back. last year it took 3 months to sort out as they were still taking monthly payments but not crediting it back

It has been withdrawn. There has been talk of bringing it back but nothing concrete so far.

thank you, so its definitely gone then.

Might be time to ditch sky altogether. Ive just had a look at plusnet and its £169.37 for the annual line rental.

Broadband is £9.99 a month (although half price for year one) I am paying £7.50 with sky.

I also have unlimited landline geographical calls for £5 and its the same for both.

I just have the basic sky package

Perhaps give Sky a ring at the time and quote some offers. They have been known to give Line Rental for £9.99pm and free BB.

I just got £9.99 line rental for a year when signing up to the 2 years free broadband deal so worth calling them.

There was talk of bringing the advance payment back, as Sky did this a couple of years ago, but I asked on the Sky forum and was told, by a Sky rep, that there is no intention of reinstating it.

It is right that they withdrew the upfront payment of line rental however the information from the previous posters is incorrect. It has recently been reinstated, though at a slightly different price.

It is now £140.40 a year which is equivalent to 11.70 a month (in the past it was nearer 9.99 a month)

Like the previous posters have said though, its worth giving sky a call as there are always various offers about, some of which may be available to you and which may be better than the upfront line rental.

I know this as I have actually taken it out last week.

    Give sky a call.

    Hope that helps.

Can you provide a link to this info please? I can see nothing on the Sky site to advise that it has been re-introduced.

Yes, please, because they certainly told me, about two months ago, that there were no plans to reinstate.

The £140.70 advance payment came in last year, just after I took out mine, but was then cancelled in December.

It may have been withdrawn but their call centre operators seem oblivious to this as they took another 12 months up front from me a while back, and still charged me monthly line rental on top.

I have now cancelled Sky broadband which is not competitive on price anyway.

It was definitely withdrawn - best way to get an agent who knows about non published offers is to speak to retentions (aka cancellations)
