Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Sky is bright but cloudy, looks like it’s going to be hot again, temperature has dropped slightly but still quite humid. Watered plants and greenhouse. Washing on the line.
DH up and gone to work early, but not stupid early.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, with all the trimmings, was delicious, although the crackling didn’t crackle brilliantly. Tonight we’ll be having the roast chicken pieces, savoury rice and noodles that we should have eaten Saturday night, I’ll just swap the menu plan around a bit.
As planned yesterday was very chilled, just prepped and cooked the lunch, organised pack ups for today, did a few little jobs nothing too heavy going. Although at 1 point internet stopped working and it took me a while to get it back, but not sure if it was my end or possibly storms/weather elsewhere affecting the signal, but got it sorted in the end.
Last night was using the microwave to heat some supper for the menfolk, and it was working fine and now isn’t have turned it off and on, and tried again, still not working, it’s got power and turns on like it’s going to work but the “microwave isn’t microwaving” – have had it a fair while and it wasn’t a expensive one, so will be looking for a cheap one as I don’t’ use it that much. I did actually think last night I wouldn’t bother replacing it, but have decided that I will. Typical as we go on hols in a few weeks – could have done without the expense.
Back to work for me today – could be a manic day or not – we’ll see, at least the office is air conditioned – so I can keep cooler there than at home.
Had to have my watch strap mended last week, and it’s broken again in exactly the same place last night, so will take it back to the jewellers and ask them to have a look to see why it’s happening, was just really luckily that both times it’s come undone, I’ve been at home and noticed straight away and haven’t lost the watch.
Take care in the sun and warm weather, remember the sunscreen x
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
It's sooooo hot and humid here this morning. I only got a couple of hours sleep so I shall be copying JackieO and having a nanna nap in a little while
.
It's my DD11's leavers assembly this afternoon and although I am looking forward to seeing her part in it I am not looking forward to seeing all the little darlings that have made her life a misery in school  Never mind, one more day and then she's out of there and will leave without a single backward glance!
Tea tonight will be chicken and vegetable curry, I've been madly over-eating this past week due to the stress and the scales have smacked my bum :rotfl:so I'm going to do my best to get back into healthy eating. I've sat and meal planned for the week :A and I'm feeling positive so fingers crossed I will have lost this gain by next week.
Hope everyone manages to have a great day, take care xx0 -
jlhmd666 - getting the family into an 'OS' frame of mind, can be very hit/miss to start off with, but please don't give up on things. Are they all old enough to understand some of the basic 'Financial Facts of Life'. Maybe start off with your OH first and explain to him how you can all maintain your 'current standard of living' by making a few minor alterations to how you deal with the housekeeping/food side of things. If you can get him to see the 'bigger picture' and if you both share a 'common goal' (maybe a good holiday / home improvement / better car), it will be much easier. Gentle steps to start off with - and don't forget that, if the rest of the family feel that they're being deprived of their treats, they'll kick/scream against the whole thing.
Thank you
I wasn't in a good place on the weekend but we've had a chat and hopefully have made some progress. The older children understand we need to save money although 'It's not fair' is a common phrase I'm hearing. I'm going to persevere though as I like the idea of a more OS way of life.

When I'm at home in the afternoon, I frequently have a snooze in the afternoon - once I make 'the mistake' of putting my feet up on the sofa, I'm 'gone'
!
Just hadn't heard the term 'Nanna nap' before (:T JackieO / dumpling) ......................... :rotfl: love it!0 -
Morning all

Lovely sunny day here today. Children are going swimming with my sister this morning so I can get on and potter about in the kitchen. I've made a list of what needs doing and will work on that over the next couple of weeks and see how it goes. It is frustrating not having the energy to get the whole lot done straight away but little and often is better than not at all

I'm going to have a go at either flap jacks or cereal bars today. The children lIke the sugar puff bars but they are quite expensive unless we get them on offer and there's only four in a pack so we get through a few packs a week. I'm going to have a look at recipes whilst I finish my coffee then it's on with the day
Hope you all have a good day

Good morning all,
It's a gorgeous day and I've got some lovely news. I'm going to be a grandma again. Grand baby number three is on the way:j. My middle son and his gf are expecting, shes just past the 12 week mark, we are so excited and pleased, and it's a winter baby so early February which is unusual in our family as everyone seems to be born in the summer. It's a good excuse for me to get on with my dodgy crocheting. I may have a nana nap this afternoon JackieO:D
Meanmarie sorry to here about the colonoscopy how frustrating, hugs x
jlhmd666 my dh is very much the same. He doesn't spend on himself but is over generous with everyone else. He always understands the need to make more money but thinks saving pennies is a waste of time, He's a work in progress.
Sistercas hope DD2 has a good trip
Well my head is full of babies and I can't concentrate, I need a quick run to the charity shop and have some computer work so I shall be busy.
Have a lovely day all xxxStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

JLHMD666 would it be worth pointing out to the family when they cry 'NOT FAIR' that it's not fair for you too??? and that you would like to keep on buying and having nice things but you can't have them either because cash is short and sometimes that's how life is. I think as MUM your nearest and dearest sometimes forget that you aren't just imposing the changes that they don't particularly like but also having to endure them too plus getting all the flack. It might make them think a little differently, good luck Lyn xxx.
Congrats JULIE grandchildren and the most wonderful gift we'll ever get, enjoy!!!0 -
Hi everyone,
I've been absent because we've had a very busy 3 days. First on the Wirral (DH went to watch the golf) from where I drove over to sort out some stuff on mum's house. Then we went over to Yorkshire and had friends to stay. I ended up eating far too much.
Today we have sis-in-law arriving for a week, I hope it cools down a bit because she wants to do the touristy thing in London which I find exhausting. I haven't been sleeping at all well either with the weather. Never mind, onwards and upwards.0 -

Morning all,
The washer has just finished with bedding in so need to get that out on the line shortly, then pop some towels in.Its very warm again,& the horseflies were out with a vengeance down in the fields when I walked the dog.She met one of her doggy pals and they were racing round so she was shattered & panting when we got back so I showered her with the watering can. It's a bit difficult in our temporary house as there's no outside tap.
Still not heard anything about our house buy yet
Might give the agent a ring after.
Congratulations Julie :Thow lovely. Our 2 DGC have been here most of the weekend so we were feeling a bit tired yesterday afternoon
I met 2 old schoolfriends for lunch on Friday and DS2 came to pick me up after so I could mind DGD while he went back to work. One of my friends was very keen to meet her so I went to the car park and brought her in for 5 minutes.Fortunately her face was clean:rotfl:and she looked very cute in a new dress. She sat at the table like a regal personage and prepared to answer questions, she does really well with her talking considering she's not 3 till September,so they were very taken with her.She made me laugh when she was in the bathroom. This house has a shower curtain, previously we had a screen so she turned and said' Gran do you have a curtain so no-one can see your bum'?:rotfl:
Salad or stir fry for tea, stew for DS.I did one in the sc yesterday and then couldnt face hot food so he can have some and I'll freeze the rest.
Hope everyone has good days, and well wishes to those under the weather xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
