Advice please - iPhone or Samsung?

I am getting a new phone in the next week or so but I'm struggling to choose between an iPhone 4S and a Samsung galaxy s3. The Samsung is quite a lot cheaper which appeals to me. The iPhone I mainly want because I prefer the design and operating system. I want the phone to be able to download spotify, take good pictures and videos, have apps like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube etc.

Opinions please? Does anyone here have a Samsung s3 and if so how do you find it - is the camera good and stuff? Thanks x

At a quick glance, the S3 (i9300) has more RAM, higher resolution screen, better battery life, faster processor, and quite a few other features besides.
If you go for the i9305 variant of the S3, you also get 4G capability.

Any apps you want you install yourself (either via the Play store or memory card).

    PS
Even though it says the S3 supports memory cards up to 64GB, I can confirm that 128GB cards work quite happily in them (once formatted to FAT32).

I second this. The new S3 as mentioned above (model i9305) has 2GB rather than 1GB from the original model.

Camera is really good for it's price range as well

This was taken on my S3 using Panoramic mode

I love my S3. S4 and S5 have better cameras but the S3 is perfectly acceptable for when you are not carrying a digital camera.

My son had Iphones for years but now swears by his S5 as does my daughter .

I've just went from the S3 to the S5. My S3 had more features for it's Camera funny enough but the picture quality isn't words apart.

If you can afford the S4 it's quite a bit faster

What features do you think are missing?

My S3 had a section where it had a few different options for colours captured when taking photos. i.e it would be all black and white apart from anything that was blue. It had a few other modes in there as well but can't remember what it was called.

I found the layout of the menus on the S3 camera GUI much better as well for the settings both phones share.

Would they be options such as Sepia, Cartoonify, Blue Point, etc?

If so, you can apply them afterwards in the Gallery app.

I had the S2 and now the S4.

Any reason for choosing the S3 over the S4? Price?

S3 is old now. But still a capable phone. They tried to get me to upgrade my S2 to an S4 mini but it wins on some points but lost on others so not really an upgrade. I love the S4 though. I did disable a lot of the silly features. Scrolling with the eyes. Clever but clunky.. A finger is much more accurate.
