I have decided the ad is tongue in cheek, and that the fish filleting requirement is merely to keep down the 'application' numbers :). He slipped up by not mentioning how smart he is though, so not for me. Pity as I can not only catch the fish, but I can clean it on the river bank, light a small safe fire & cook it too....

the one that got away... :rotfl:

Not every woman is for any man, there have been comments no wonder he is single, there are women not worth bothering with too, the ad probably is tongue in cheek, not hilarious (IMO) but purposely written to keep the chaff away and possible wheat only may apply if he to fits her criteria too.

Oh lighten up.....this is a nice light hearted thread topic which you seem intent on turning into an argument......If you didn't find it funny there was no reason for you to be so negative towards the post and OP, you just shouldn't of commented.... :)

Thanks Poppie68, the way the opening thread didn't appear that way to start with, especially as you noticed the OP chomping my head off initially with other responses to follow, now that you have cleared that up I can drop out of the thread. As obviously I'm not welcome here as I'm not seeing the same light heartedness :o

Lol.....'not welcome here' now your being a little tetchy, no wonder the OP had a little nibble at your head you told her she shouldn't be reading these ads because she's married.

I think it's a great way to meet people if your single and maybe a little safer than the internet but some of them are funny, intentional or not!
I was sat in the sun last week when the free paper was delivered and for the first time decided to have a read as i got towards the back i noticed a full page of these ad's and what struck me were the average age of these were placed by people over 65 with approx 1/3 being over 70.. which i think it's great that there is still a place for people to place an ad apart from the net.
The older generation has got younger at heart and it seems that social events and places to meet don't seem as plentiful as they used to be..(or maybe i just don't notice them).

Anyway the weather is nice so  cheers :)

I think the misunderstanding was that the OP thought I meant she was looking at the ads where as that is not what I meant, the responses does make it feel like males are not welcome on threads sometimes, thats the reality here. When all I meant is that (and I had already said) that having viewed dating ads and spoken to folk that have viewed them too, this was little out of the ordinary, I suppose my responses were biased from other threads on the go too, anyways as said I shall bail out of this thread now, as I was not trying to spoil it, and thought some debate/discussion about advert types were to follow. x

All people regardless of gender are welcome on all threads (well should be) and to be honest i find on MSE both genders agree on most things..as long as men agree that the womens point of view is always the correct point of view:D...

This thread has got me thinking which generation is the most honest while writing an ad, and how many actually walk away before they say hi when meeting their date for the first time because they don't like the way the other person looks?

The thread had me already thinking that way from the 1st post, take pof for instance, it's free and lots look there, even if only for curiosity sake.
Some males are looking for 1 nighters and extra marital, and you can tell that from reading some of the female profiles as that seems to be the 'talent' that are contacting them. As a male I see profiles where obviously the female is just looking for someone to wine and dine them, cashing in on some lonely guy who will do the gentleman thing and fund the evening, only to be told later they did not click and the person moves onto the next, free night out every other weekend?
Obviously there are goodies of both gender on there, but you can see why we do get ads written like in the original posting, whilst it can be tongue in cheek, it could be somebody fed up too.

But back to topic, there have been some gems posted on facebook, did they get any responses? Only the advertiser will know :o
