Do it in writing (asking for the reply) as that is evidence that you asked even if they refuse to reply in writing.

    Something like in an email,

    Hi boss
can you pleas clarify what process will be used to record the carry over of the accrued unused holiday for this holiday year also will there be a limit on how long these days can be carried over before they are lost.

Many companies like to have all accrued carried over holidays taken before the end of the financial year as this a liability they don't want to carry over.

Unless you are getting more than the basic allowance it is against the law to carry over more than 1.6 weeks leave and even this needs to be by agreement of BOTH party's.

OK an update, I enquired today. I just said that I was reading over my contract and it said I had to use my holiday before the end of the year or I loose them and by my counting I have will have 12 days to take before the end of the year, the response I got was "Don't worry about that, they will roll over to next year"

I left it at that as didn't know what the best next move should be, firstly If I want my holidays to roll over that should be my choice not the firms, then we have the breach of contract, then we have the work time regulations. They are not even giving half the statutory amount, it basically amounts to the bank holidays, sure a day or 2 short you'd let slide but not 18 days.

So no I did not ask for holidays but I have asked twice regarding them so its obvious my intentions its also obvious there intentions

No it not obvious what their intentions are. You have noted your contract says you will lose holiday if I don't take them by the end of the year, and they have said not to worry as they can roll them over for you.

You are a grown man. Did you expect them to guess you wanted to book leave and fill in the request form for you? Just put in a holiday request, formally, in writing, and stop second guessing them.

How do you calculate you are short? Did you say you started at the beginning of June? 28 days/2 = 14 days take away Christmas day and Boxing day, which would leave you a maximum of 12 days to take assuming no other days off - what happened on August BH?
