No a 3 sim card will only work in a 3g phone. tried it with a 3310 ages ago. Didn't recognise it. If you do find a phone that works, and 3 notice, they will block the sim card, and send you another sim that won't work unless it is in a 3g phone. Costs them more if you use a non 3g phone, as they have to pay o2, who they use for the non 3g areas, so they don't let people do it0

Using 3 Sim Cards in a 2G phone is an art.
People's chat of 3 will block your sim is scaremongering. I know NOONE that has had their phone blocked from using a 3G Simmy in a 2G phone - these work fine on a Nokia 3220 and the Samsung E700.0 -
This is getting confusing. Apart from the fact that I dont want or need 3g, who is right as both of you guys are saying different things.

3 block the sim not the phone. It took 3 three months to block my sim card so if they haven't done it yet, they will.
I was sent a letter and a replacement sim (that doesn't work in any 2g phone). The letter told me to refer to 5.3 of the terms and conditions.......
5.3 Each SIM may only be used in Handsets which are
enabled for 3 Services and are authorised by us for
Connection to the 3 network. Any attempt to use the
SIM in other Handsets may result in serious damage
to the Handset and may prevent you from being able
to use it, including the making of emergency calls. In
these instances, we are not responsible for any such
damage or usage problems.
It has already been talked about in this thread
