I lodged a complaint with Halifax over the Clarity card and the fact that it took 60 days to get it if you already had an existing Halifax card, not Clarity, which I have.

You have to close your existing non-Clarity card; you cannot apply for new clarity card before 60 days have expired since closing your existing card.

    I applied for Saga card.

Do tell me if you succeed in applying and getting clarity card with an already viable Halifax cc that you are still using. Complaints letter reply seems to suggest this is impossible.

Complain - as I ahave been offered £40 - lol.

My main bank is Santander and I am no longer loyal to any bank.

    .

They could decide who they want to become their customers nothing wrong or illegal with it. Two months is reasonable some banks are even asking for at least six months.

Are you seriously saying that after you complained about the above you were awarded £40 compensation ? You might be awarded compensation because of something else. For instance rude and/or the use of inappropriate word of customers services, etc.

It is very hard to believe unless you could provide any proof. In this internet world people could say anything, whether people will believe that is another thing.

Just checked my account online and mine too only says "Halifax Mastercard" plus it has a picture of a black Halifax credit card on it.

Same here, but I definitely have a Clarity card.

The text highlighted by Roland Sausage appears on one of my statements from last year and the welcome email I received from Halifax contained this:
Welcome to your new Halifax Clarity credit card. We're sure you'll find your new card a useful addition to your wallet as you go about your everyday spending.

I also get a fiver if I spend over £300 on it during a month and no foreign transaction fees.

I wonder why Halifax is so coy about this card? :)

Reading these forums, it appears that banks throw compensation around like confetti.

People seem to get compo for pretty trivial things.

If you go onto credit cards on halifax home page they all appear to be black apart from the clarity card which is blue, so i assume if your card is blue as mine is it is a clarity card.

    I complained that:

    1. It took 60 days to cancel an existing Halifax cc and to get a new Clarity card when I could apply and get within 2 weeks an alternative. This length of time would disadvantage existing customers who may only have a Halifax CC and no other (I do - I have 2 alternative bank accounts and immediately applied for a SAGA cc which I now have) unless they applied for an alternative which would affect credit score by just applying and would take at least 3-4 weeks to become 'active'.

    2. I complained that Halifax did not make it easy to complain - web form not fit for purpose, email not accepted, telephone service was not efficient and I had to actively ask for the complaint to be esculated. I wrote a good old fashioned letter and told them I wanted the reply in a letter.

    3. I complained that I was told the complaint would be linked to account and held 'forever' - this is excessive if you read DPA 1998. They fudged this but complaints don't seem to be linked to accounts in a way that normal staff can access them.

    4. I was told by someone on this board that they already had a Halifax cc and had applied for Clarity with no problem (I expect that they breached t&c but also that Halifax did not check).

    =£40 compensation

So far I have 'earned' around £250 in compensation due to complaining. I would advise letter or email, rather than phone and web form unless you have means of recording.

My soon-to-be-cancelled card is blue and is not a clarity card

    Tenth Anniversary
For those for whom their online banking is just showing "Halifax Mastercard", that's what mine did until a few months ago when it changed to "Halifax Clarity Mastercard".

Mine hasn't been transformed - just checked. So it will be an ex Halifax cc as soon as I can get to cancel it in branch (tomorrow probably)
