How do you do this weeowens?

The village part of my address,ie the second line,is ripe for a few slight additional letters.
It still reads OK & would seem like a typo on the part of the sender when viewed by the postie.
Seems to work for me as I can spot the comping stuff instantly.

As has been stated on this forum many times we are all adults & capable to choosing what do do.I have chosen this course of action for what some may see as vacuous reasons but they are my reasons.

What others do re DOB is their concern & it is not my place to dictate to them.
I am well aware of the risks involved but as stated above there has never been an issue raised.

To add to the mix I even use a comping address to differentiate comping related mail.

With all due respect, given you quoted me, I did not suggest "vacuous reasons" for having a comping DoB. I can totally see the logic and reasoning.

I also didn't suggest it was right or wrong to give a comping DoB. Nor did I try to "dictate" to anyone that they should or should not use a comping DoB.

I noticed the SalesGossip comp terms had been highlighted by whoever posted them this week, and I thought it was topical to add a subtle warning that people should be careful, given such strongly worded Ts and Cs (which almost certainly exist elsewhere also).

I do not appreciate being quoted and accused of things I clearly didn't say or do in my post that was topical, and shared in a helpful manner.

Hmm if some people are using incorrect details deliberately it makes you wonder just what else they are doing..
Very shameful really, only people with things to hide would usually take steps like that...:(

I do hope one day it comes back and bites anyone who does this on the bum
Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:

I'm sorry if you felt that my post was accusatory or directed at you.
That was not my intention in posting it.
The written word can be viewed in so many ways & may be misinterpreted & it seems forums are fertile ground for this misinterpretation to take place.
    Thanks for your reply.

Proper little ray of sunshine sentiments there Van.:)

I think my posterior will be safe for a while yet as it has emerged unscathed from the last six odd years of telling lies on entry forms.

Well my comping DOB makes me 20 years younger :D For one reason only, are the likes of Shortlist, Glamour, Capital etc all going to want to give their trendy prizes to a 53 year old lady?? I maybe 53 years old on paper but feel and act (and look lol) 33 so that is my comping DOB and as weeowens says, if challenged it is a wee typo.

Now back the the first post in question by the OP, I did actually recently apply for a credit card and used my form fill and forgot to change my year of birth . I cannot even tell you the nightmare this caused. First phone call could not verify me as my DOB was incorrect. To cut a very long story short I had to travel 10 miles, into the local branch with my passport an driving licence. Two weeks later still could not access my account. The branch had lost my copies of passport and driving licence so I had to make another 20 mile round trip. To say I was furious was an understatement but partly my own fault for getting it wrong in the first place.

I will confess I used to do that a bit sugarbabe - also on those particular comps :rotfl::rotfl: - until I learned that the age thing is for marketing purposes and not asked for in order to disqualify decrepit old 50 somethings like us. At least I hope it's not. I'll let y'all know when I win one which given my luck will probably be when I'm 80 and they let me win because they feel sorry for me! Also, sometimes I forgot and put my real age and then thought they'd probably seriously question my sanity if they ever tied up the loose ends and who wants to be on someone's database as the kind of person who doesn't even know how old they are:rotfl::rotfl:Now I just leave it all in the lap of the Gods :A :rotfl::rotfl:

Well, you did quote my post above your comments, none of which were positive, so I'm not sure how open that is to misinterpretation. Still, thank you for your reply.

My sentiment remains: it's up to other compers how much they alter their info, and whether you change your details or not, I'm firmly in the 'fate' camp: if you're meant to win, you will, regardless of changes you make. The Comping Fairy knows your real identity :D

I am another one that uses a comping date of birth, but I don't think I have used it yet on anything non-comping.
