I've played a few rotten games in my time.

Golden Axe Beast Rider and Army of 2 on the 360 were both terrible.

  • Knightrider for the PS2. 4 people trying it, could not get out of tutorial mode for around 3 hours as the controls were so tricky!

I don't tend to remember the worst games I've played as, why would I need to? I wouldn't be playing them again.

    But of recent memory:

Elder Scrolls Online - Old traditional MMO concept, however incredibly tedious with unbelievably clunky controls. I spent many a time running around looking for the quest marked on my map, not able to find anything about it. The combat is horrible for an MMO, I don't understand how anyone can play this game well. Money wasted - I was thinking of picking it up on Console at some point to see if it improves, but by the sounds of it, friends are just not interested, so I probably won't bother.

Wolfenstein (the latest one) - I picked up the special edition for about 30 quid brand new. Played 30 minutes, gave up. I hate it. Again, bad controls, weapon recoil feels like you've got a 50.cal sniper stuck to an AR or whatever weapon you're using making aiming really difficult. Cluttered, horribly narrow and box like landscape throughout the first level at least - I'm very cynical, If I don't enjoy it after 5 minutes, it's unlikely I'm going to want to carry on. I tried to give it a chance after so many good things I heard about it, but no, not for me.

Fallout - Just could not get in to it. Story didn't really drive me, played about 2 hours hoping for it to pick up, not touched it since.

Lego Marvel - One I try to play with the missus, for a game aimed at a younger audience, some of the things you have to do are really, REALLY not obvious. We could spend up to 15 minutes trying to work out what it is asking of us. Causes more stress and frustration than fun.

  • You may not enjoy COD games but you can't suggest that they are 'bad'. It's cool to hate on COD because it has a reputation for being full with annoying kids online

I hate on it because I find it dreadful, samey and uninspiring.

    YMMV.

The one that comes to mind right now is...Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. I didn't really understand why Lara had to re-learn how to run every level.

More than likely I have played games that were more buggy and broken, but this one really sticks out as a truly terrible game in an otherwise very respectable franchise.

Oh, and Two Worlds. I personally think that Two Worlds was a rushed attempt to try and get some funding for a bigger and better game (Two Worlds II), which was ridiculously superior in every way. I can't really think of a reason why the same company would have released the utter atrocity that was TW, only to reveal their true prowess three years later. Maybe they replaced the entire development team in those years...
  • Far Cry 2 has to be in there.

Terrible game. Loads of bugs and glitches plus some atrocious game mechanics. I had the PS3 version and I detested it.

Far Cry 3 was amazing though.

Also the Star Wars: phantom menace game on PS1 was a piece of rancid trash.
  • is beat game...

Grrrr - those respawning checkpoints still haunt me to this day! Ubi really nailed it with Far Cry 3 though (especially the first half). I hope 4's just a good!

    I can't wait for Far Cry 4!

Like you say, the first half of FC3 is just fantastic
