I've just received a message from Executive.Office@ee.co.uk
In it they acknowledge the problem and apologise profusely. The relevant paragraph read:
Please accept my sincerest apologies you have received numerous text messages over the past few days. Your comments regarding the problems you have encountered in attempting to stop the additional texts are fully acknowledged. Once this issue was highlighted to us, it was passed to our Incident Management team to investigate and resolve. Following multiple investigations, it was discovered there was a problem whereby a server was not receiving confirmation the text had been successfully delivered. This caused multiple texts to be sent. Our technical teams have stopped the scripts which send out the Magic Number texts and are currently working on a fix to ensure this incident is not repeated.
I've not received any messages since 8:39 today. If you are still getting them, I suggest you email Executive.Office@ee.co.uk
It seems almost beyond belief to me that they have taken this long to diagnose the problem.
