I am into my third day of seemingly endless text messages from Orange telling me that I can have a new magic number. After about 40 of these I tried to stop it by going to their website and adding a magic number. I couldn’t do this because their website is broken.
Having gone through all the procedures to add a number, I simply got an error message saying "Sorry, we're having some technical issues - please try again. If there are still problems, please try our help & support."
So I looked on their help and support page. Nothing remotely covers this.

That was yesterday. This morning I have already had nine more text messages since 8:04.

I dialled 150 to talk to customer service but can find no way to talk to an actual person, just endless jibber-jabber and directions to go to your website. Which is pointless.
I have emailed a complaint to 'executive.office@orange.co.uk' and 'complaints@everythingeverywhere.co.uk' but don't expect much, I'm afraid.
Has anyone else run into this particular problem? How did you fix it. Is there any way I can block Orange text messages?

same thing happening to me too. Have been getting many marketing texts from -EE-, Orange etc. even though I opt out. The number of magic numbers texts I've had this week has left me seriously considering paying off the rest of my contract!
:mad:0 -
Same for me too! I've had over 20 in the last 24 hours! I've rung them to complain and apparently they'll ring me back when they have looked into the matter more!
I don't even have an orange mobile! My mum has my old pay as you go sim, which is linked to my orange home broadband and land line account to get a promotional price, so I'm receiving these texts on my O2 mobile!! Very annoying!!0 -
Ive been getting nations of texts too, to add a new magic number...0

Incidentally, mail to 'complaints@everythingeverywhere.co.uk' now bounces, so I'm pinning my waning, pitiful hopes on 'executive.office@orange.co.uk' still being in use.
(I'm up to 15 messages today now.)0 -
I've been getting them too, absolutely doing my head in. Not had one since about 6pm though, so I'm hoping they've done something to stop it.0

I have just had 5 in the last hour,
20 + yesterday0 -
The 'complaints' mailbox is presumably now full...no big surprise. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

If there is a technical issue with adding the magic numbers that could mean that there is also an issue with the system that sends out the texts0

Orange spent weekend spamming customers with TXTs
News at The Register
Customers of UK mobile carrier Orange have spent the weekend nursing their thumbs after receiving a deluge of unwanted TXT messages.
The messages spruiked “Magic Numbers”, a service whereby it is possible to make “ free calls to your favourite Orange mobile and Orange Broadband Wireless and Talk numbers” that you nominate in advance.
That's a nice offer unless, as has been happening for the last few days, you get it a dozen or more times each day as some customers complain in this forum and of course on Twitter.
“EE Community Team” member “Miles” yesterday posted the following message:
“Unfortunately we're having an issue with the text message service that reminds people they are eligible to add another magic number. This reminder should only be sent once, but some customers are getting multiple reminders.
If you've received any of these duplicate messages, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. Remember: you're not charged to receive magic number reminders.
Our team is working on a fix that will stop any further instances of multiple reminders happening. We're expecting an additional update on this fix tomorrow. I'll post here as soon as I have further details.”
At the time of writing, “soon” hadn't arrived: we could find no new information suggesting the problem has been addressed.
All of which sounds like (a); a SNAFU at orange and ; (b) a fine excuse for being late to work today, in “ Orange kept sending me TXTs all weekend so I turned of the sound on my phone and slept through the alarm” kind of way. ®0 -
4 days now, I never normally get this many messages!
On Saturday they were hoping to resolve as soon as possible, still waiting.....................0
