We are getting a camper van for 2 weeks in August, 2 adults and a teen, 2 weeks off work go to calais to Amsterdam but then where to?
I wanted Italy but far too far to do in 2 weeks, so thinking closer so we don't have to spend endless hours in the camper van.
I want beaches and swimming, OH water sports , walking, teen theme parks and for it not to happen:rotfl: not into art, cathedrals, etc
Do we just turn up at a campsite and hope they are not full? Do we work to a schedule? Shall we ad hock?
Do we head out 1 week and worry the 2 nd week to get back?
Uhm clueless please help:D

Durinell at Wassenaar, near enough to do day trips into Amsterdam. Use the park and ride - great value.
Great pool with lots of slides, as a eurocamp holidaymaker, it did cost a bit extra to get into the pool, but not too much. Think it is included in the price if you book via them direct.
Bikes for hire, great beach tho too far to walk, we hired cycles to get there,no idea about water sports tho as weather wasn't great when we was there so beach was empty.
Also a theme park on site that was free, but Tbh we didn't think much of it.0 -
Brittany for beaches and walking.San malo, dinard, pink granite coast. Get the michelin guide to camping in France out of the library.municipal sites in France can be very good.0

If, as you state, you want beaches, swimming and water sports, on a two week holiday in a camper van, you’re currently heading off in very much the wrong direction.
Forget Calais and Amsterdam. Completely.
Think Portsmouth (or Plymouth) and a ferry to Western France and/or Northern (Atlantic) Spain.
Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao (or Plymouth to Santander) involves less than one mile of August driving in a hot camper van. Roll off the ferry and you’re in Spain, with marvellous beaches in both directions. You can also drive to the Med from there in six hours – water parks, PortAvenura, etc., if that's your thing.
Calais to the Vendee, or further south, and back again, is a killer in August. Use St-Malo, instead, for that one.
If you want a beachy road-trip, consider the ferry to St-Malo and driving down the west coast of France to Bilbao or Santander; ferry back from there.

If it's Calais for a cheaper crossing, I'd mosey down to the Loire Valley, stopping en route for odd nights, perhaps seeing a chateau or two.
Then on to south Brittany, lovely. We did it for years when the kids were small and up to DDs 18 th.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

There are plenty of terrific beaches in both Belgium and the Netherlands without any need to pay the exorbitant charges for the longer ferries heading south.

Belgium is not campervan friendly like France though so I've heard0

Again, opposite direction to Amsterdam, but we took ours to La Rochelle via the coast. Fantastic once we'd ditched the guide books and found the site the French used! Fututoscope would be doable on this route0

Thank you for your time.:D We looked into santander ferry crossing and the prices are close to £500 each:eek: original idea was the pyrenees so that cost has stopped play:eek: then it was Italy but it is far too far baking in a hot camper hundreds of miles to practically get there and have to head back as the work will only allow 2 weeks off.
THen it was fly to Italy and hire a camper van but that comes in at around 875 euros per week  so that was vetoed also.0
