Advice on new bathroom

Can anyone advice the following?

a) Where's the best place to buy bathrooms from - we are in Hertfordshire. Don't mind online recommendations either.

b) Which brands should we look out for when we are buying bathroom suits and taps?

Many Thanks

Because I would be accused of spamming - I just gave the OP the details of the bathroom fitters I used in Hertfordshire. I can give you the details if you would like too.

But I can share what I have learnt from having my bathroom and ensuite totally re-fitted:

    1. I would look for someone who can do both the tiling and the bathroom fitting themselves so they can't blame each other if something goes wrong (my sister had this problem)

    2. Although it is cheaper to by the fittings yourself, it might cost more in stress and money if what is delivered is faulty or incorrect so I would always buy from the bathroom fitter and accept the mark-up.

If your not connected to the company and get no financial reward from posting the link then I don't think it is spamming. People, including myself, post links to companies all the time. It's a money saving site and it wouldn't work well if no one could post links to useful products and sites.

I think Suzie is doing the right thing. Any mention of a recommendation on here, I find, gets met with the normal, '' Owe you must work for them'', Spam etc taunts.

Doesn't matter if you have been on here for years and have 1000's of posts, always happens.

Good point on getting fitter to do tiling and bathroom together, as well as not sourcing yourself. You don't know if you have forgotten to order something and are letting yourself wide open to the usual '' Oh I cant finish it off yet luv, as you haven't ordered X correctly'' etc.

Bristan taps are good usually. Ideal Standard good for pottery.

Ideal stuff is becoming worse. Long lead times , poor castings and when it arrives isn't well wrapped and usually damaged . Roca used to be the same but there products and service is much better. Better brands include duravit

For showers I would always recommend hanshrohe , in a different league to mira and bristan

Ideal were a bit pricey too, but I noticed that they supply stores as own brand.

OP get brochures from builder or plumbing merchants.

come back here if you get quotes to compare.

This wasn't my experience with Ideal last year. I had no problems at all with my WC and basin.
