I use pure coconut oil. I've just finished by qualification in holistic therapy and by doing Indian head massage we learned all about the best oils for hair. I recently asked my hairdresser and she said pure coconut oil is the best thing. Smells nothing like coconut but it works wonders!
I tried and ended up with really patchy hair then read up about it on the makeupalley boards and realised why my newly dyed hair needed to be redyed straight away!

I have really dry ends and greasy roots and very fine hair. I recently bought a small sample set of Philip Kingsley from Marks and Spencers. It was £5 and you got 3 x 20ml products. I got the Body & Volume collection which contained the Volume Shampoo and Conditioner and also the elasticizer. You get £5 off £20 spend voucher as well. Anyway after using it twice I can tell you that its amazing. My hair is shiny, soft but the roots aren't greasy. I've got bounce and volume in my hair and the next day the roots weren't greasy like they normally where. I'd highly recommend the sample set just to try and see if you like the products.0

the lady that cuts my, my sis and mum hair suggested leaving conditioner in overnight before rinsing it out (esp if you wrap your hair in a towel or those head wrap) to my sister when she had dry hair.0

I use the very cheap conditioners from Morrisons @ £1.09 each. I use the blue one for dry hair as a regular conditioner and - and this really helps - any conditioner used as a pre-wash on *dry* hair. (This is also a good way of using up products that don't quite make the grade.)
What I do is smooth a normal sized dose of conditioner into the length of my hair without wetting it first, clip it up out of the way, then deal with other stuff like brushing teeth etc. When I get into the shower, the first thing I do is rinse out the conditioner, then shampoo (with half and half cheap-ish baby shampoo and Morrison's own blue one). After a jolly good rinse, I put on the Morrison's blue conditioner and clip it up out of the way with a butterfly clip. I don't rinse it off until I've finished washing the rest of me so that it gets a good treatment every single wash day.
Try to avoid blow drying wherever and whenever you can - horribly drying, and I also use the V05 serum stuff.
I find this really licks my hair into shape and also has the advantage of needing only cheap products and even using up stuff that was disappointing, but still hanging around.Elizabeth

I used to have really dry hair. I had to cut my hair to about my shoulders and it was in such good condition after that, i then haven't had it cut since. i do now need a cut! But it has gotten so long!! i use a hair mask (matrix conditioning mask) that makes my hair sooo soft, also if you live in London or anywhere where the water is hard (Bristol etc), that dries it out, try washing it with bottled water, makes a MASSIVE difference, I use the 45p Sainsbury brand water. May sound a bit extravagant but the difference is amazing!
Unfortunately you need to chop it to make it better. Try not to use hot tools like straighteners and blow driers. You will notice a massive difference!
Hope this helps.0 -
Those are good points, Bette! There's no way to fix split ends, you have to chop them off. I too experienced better hair for having it shorter for a while.Elizabeth

have you tried not washing it as much?
Use dry shampoo on your roots before bed and your hair will be fine in the morning.Total Debt in Feb 2015 - £6,052 | DEBT FREE 26/05/2017Swagbucks £200 Valued Opinions £100Dave Ramsey Baby Step 2 | Mr Money Mustache Addict0 -
I used to find the Aussie products good but this was many years ago, back when we all had perms and blow-drys which used to dry the hair out! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

yes water makes a definite difference - our water is very hard and my hair is always frizzy; but using 20p bottled water it is soft and no frizz! also we were caught in heavy rain the other day and I was too tired to wash it when we got home. the next day my hair was soft; bouncy and full of natural curls. several friends asked me which hairdresser I had been to!!0
