My old TomTom has just died.
Any recommendations for a good replacement at the budget end of the scale please?

Out of interest, what's wrong with it? My TT720 recently died in that the internal memory failed, so it would show the "insert card" animation as it couldn't access the internal memory. Adding a card and reloading the backup sorted it out.0

If you have an Android phone Navfree is very good.0

If it's an internal battery issue, have a crack at replacing it :P They're not as hard as you might think.0

Also available for iDevices.
Good app, but uses a lot of memory. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Another vote for "your smartphone" (assuming you have one)0

My 6 year old Tom Tom had become too innaccurate and required my purchasing of maps to update (never done that in 6 years, only the free ones). Looking at the cost of updating maps, I tried using my smart phone for a few trips, gave up (screen too small), bought a Garmin with free lifetime maps, took that back the next day , and ended up with a Tom Tom Start 20 (also with free lifetime maps) from Argos - reduced in the sale, made use of a money off voucher and redeemed some nectar point, grand total £53.99. Nice big screen and came with a free carry case. The image quality is also much better than my older TT. I'm very pleased with my upgrade!
Just a note on buying a second TT if you already have a TT account - it won't support two on the same email account. If that makes sense. I now need to ring them and get them to take my old one off.0 -

I just replaced my old GO720 with an new 820 from the attached offer https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5012213=
I too struggled with the 'can't have 2 devices' rule but then on the 3rd/4th attempts a box popped up asking whether I wanted to remove 'old' device and add 'new' one to my account - all sorted in 30secs after that with no phone call needed0 -
If their site doesn't allow more than one device per email address, that's pretty poor planning on their part. But five minutes for you to just open a spare email account with Gmail or Hotmail or wherever, called 'nagmesecondsatnav at wherever.com' and use it only for that. Added bonus is you'll be able to see where they sell your email address to, if they do things like that.0
