Bedside DAB radio with Sleep Button

  • And the fifth press gives 90 minutes and the sixth 2 hours. That's sensible design and I can't see any good reason why other, more recent models, should have devolved.

I've just checked my Siesta (this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PURE-Siesta-DAB-Clock-Radio/dp/B000SO0846/ - not the Mi model) and the sleep button does increment by 15 minutes, though the maximum seems to be 90 minutes.

Did anyone find anything suitable? My 20 year old Sony has a remote controller with a sleep button on it that I just reach out to in the dark and hit the sleep button. So at a single touch of a button, the radio goes on to my preselected radio station (radio 4 with BBC world service most of the night) at the right volume for the preselected timer period. Usually bores me back to sleep. Never realised how lucky I am until I have to find something else as the FM radio is getting really crackly.
Not bothered about the remote if the new one just has a single touch sleep button that does not need presetting.

I've had a look at both my DAB radios, a Roberts Stream 93i and a Pure Evoke Flow. Both have them but, as you said, they aren't simple one button affairs but require setting from the menus.

If you can't find anything suitable how about a bit of lateral thinking? You could get a remote control socket for the radio?

Plug the radio in to it then when you've had enough in the night all you have to press the off button on the socket remote.

    Note to self.

  • Last year, I tried four or five different DAB radios, ranging in price from £30 up to about £70, and I took them all back for one reason or another.

I then found this radio in Tesco:
    http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-dcr1401g-dab-clock-radio-grey/755-4302.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=755-4302

It has everything I think you want. I can set mine with the sleep button to switch itself off after 50 minutes, or almost any other period of time, in the dark very easily.

    Highly recommended for £25.

When I went to bed last night I had a look at my bedside bedside radio. It's a Tesco DAB radio/iPod dock, it doesn't have a sleep button on the radio but it does on the remote.

Pressing the sleep button once told me that no timer was set but a second press set the timer to 60mins each further press reduced the timer in 15 minute intervals down to a minimum of 15mins, the next press took it back to 60mins.

I've had it years but perhaps they do a current model with a similar feature? I remember that it wasn't expensive, about £30 I think.
