Thank you Maryland Cookie! I'm getting there step by step, I was given some brilliant advice to use this as a trial month and that's what I will do while keeping a diary of what I spend to spot small spends that add up!

Stopping smoking is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but it will be the most rewarding! I've tried so many times but my heart wasn't in it, it is this time!

    Wish me luck x

Finally today is payday, not that it really makes much difference as this month I am going to keep hold of every penny I can .... besides diesel etc. (Things I have to spend)

I have paid £80.00 straight to the Barclaycard which I have planned to do to get rid of it in its 0% period. Also separated all remaining money into different accounts for different things such as bills, and birthdays... car repairs etc.

Today will be another no spend day, I have come home for lunch as normal to prevent buying it.

Also this is day 9 of no smoking, getting there slowly! x

One of my two items sold on Ebay, only for £2.98 but it all helps!
Re-listed the one that didn't sell and I am going to put some more on there this evening.

Also considering doing a car boot on Sunday as I have lots of things like books and DVD's that will not get a lot on Ebay. Last time I did one I came home with £100 profit! :)

Nice quiet night in tonight, no spending for me! Also going to look up some things to do in the area for free over the weekend.

Well done on stopping smoking. I haven't smoked a cigarette in 3 weeks! It gets easier, stick with it x
  • Carboot sounds like a good idea, especially if the weather is good. Don't forget to take a flask/sandwiches so your not tempted to 'eat' into your profits :0) x

Great idea Maryland cookie, I had not even considered that! I will now though! :) thank you! Drinks and snacks is an expense I don't need when there is food at home x

So today has not been a no spend day, I bought 3 bottles of cider and some pimms came to £9 in asda but that is all I spent today.... It will also be going in my spending diary. I won't be going out anywhere this weekend to spend anymore money so I don't think £9 is so bad!

Day 10 of no smoking :)

Still feeling really positive as the rest of the month I am going to remain being just as careful with my money! :)

  • Pimms, how lovely hope u enjoyed it and had a nice weekend. How's the spending diary coming on? I found mine really helpful. I also joined up for some of the challenges, they really keep me on the straight and narrow!

    Hi Maryland Cookie,

No spend diary is going well I am updating it every day! The weekend wasn't too bad I had to fill the car with Diesel as it was pretty much on the red, that was £44 :O but apart from that and my pimms purchase I didn't spend anything else. Managed to have a lovely cheap-ish weekend compared to normal :D

I am going to look at the challenges especially the making a certain amount of money per day one, Think that would really help to boost my bank balance and get a little emergency fund rather than living to what I earn each month.

On a plus .... A family member is recommending me to a company they work for in the same industry as I work in, but I would pick up another £3000 a year and not have to work weekends at all. I am keeping everything crossed!

    :D

Time to update the Diary :)

12 days smoke free and according to my little app on my phone I have saved £89.76!!!!!!! I haven't been putting the money in a jar everyday which would probably keep me on the smoke free wagon, but the reason I'm not is because I couldn't actually afford to smoke in the first place!

NSD today apart from £2.80 to post an Ebay Sale, but the buyer paid for that anyway. I am updating the NS diary everyday to see where little amounts might be disappearing to.

Im just about to try and sell some books, cd's and Dvd's.... I never use them as I read books on my I Phone (Free ones) and also have plenty of music to listen to on my Itunes. All money will help right now!

I have taken my credit card out of my purse as recommended and actually frozen it for real, so it is going to take a lot of effort to try and use it. Genius idea :D
