A current balance indicator has been on the IOS app for ages.
Does not help if you are trying to check if your iThing is leaking mobile data
Or what that call to an 08x number cost.

Going to USA in the Autumn so Feel At Home is going to be ideal.
Now, from UK on your Three 321 scheme you can phone USA for 3p/min using the Three shortcode 424:

    http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBISAPI.DLL?Command=New,Kb=Mobile,Ts=Mobile,T=Article,varset_cat=roaming,varset_subcat=4157,Case=obj%2813248%29
    USA Landline Mobile 424

So the $64,000 question is: Do these shortcodes work when in the USA using Feels Like Home? So you could make 'local' calls this way?
Anyone out there now that could answer that?

Given that 'feel at home' is supposed to act as if you are calling from home, then yes in theory the short codes should work.... as you say though needs someone to try..

I asked the same question on 2013-12-04 but nobody answered then either. :(

    Hi All,

I searched Feel at Home on the forum as it seems like the cheapest option, but looked a bit too good to be true when I checked Three's website. I'm with Vodafone for my contract and they want to charge £5/day to use my phone in US!

Thought I would update the thread in case anyone was interested...

I decided to call Three (or rather they called me within about 10 seconds when I requested a call back on their website!)

The rep confirmed that I can buy a PAYG sim in the shop, activate it and as soon as I land in US, I will automatically be on Feel at Home, no add-on purchase required. Rates will be 3-2-1, then 15p/min (i think) to call a US number. Cheaper than getting a local SIM for my family to all keep in touch when we're on hols!

Just need to get my handset unlocked and I'm all ready for the trip :)

    The three rep is wrong.

You need to buy an add on otherwise the rates will be higher than 3,2,1.

Do you always give a preference to a 'rep' as a source of reliable information to what is published openly in many places on the company's website?

Either the rep misunderstood you or has given wrong advice. The Three website is pretty clear about how it works...

United States is a Feel At Home destination.

This means you can use your device there at no extra cost. Calls and texts back to the UK and using data will come out of any Pay As You Go Add-on allowance you have. If you don't have an add-on, you'll need to get one so that you have an allowance to enjoy Feel At Home with.

If you've gone over or don't have an Add-on allowance.
Calling a UK number. 15.6p per minute.
Calling an United States number. 15.6p per minute.
Texts to UK. 4.9p per text.
Texting an United States number. 49p per text.
Receiving calls from any number. Free.
Receiving texts from any number. Free.
Using internet and data. 10p per MB.
    Using voicemail. 15.6p per minute.

Wow, no need to be rude!

Without being an existing customer I can't see how to purchase add-ons and how much they cost,

The website wasn't clear in my opinion (and obviously a few others in this thread too), hence why I thought I would contact Three directly to clarify. Most sensible people would take this approach! And yes, I do tend to rely on the information given to me by the company I'm dealing with when I have a query...

I will be going to the Three store to pick up some SIMs tomorrow so I'll ask them about the add-ons then.

You seem to have not learnt the lesson.

    http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBISAPI.DLL?Command=New,Kb=Mobile,Ts=Mobile,T=Article,varset_cat=payasyougo,varset_subcat=4122,Case=obj%284101%29

And unless you need the sim really urgently there is no need to go to a store: Free Pay As You Go SIM.
